Investigators don't know if the attack was racially motivated.

"Right now we have an assault, and if there is a racial motivation, the DA will take that into account," Jackson said. "No one was seriously injured, but we don't want this to happen. We want to be able to address it right away."

Over a 10-week period that ended with an alert in late June, eight people were attacked, seven of them near Lawrence Street and Park Avenue West and one at 17th and Champa streets.

In those incidents, the majority of victims were transients, Jackson said. In some of the cases, homeless people were attacked by other homeless people. Other attacks were actually fights, Jackson said.

"There is no clear pattern," he said.

Yes, because the races of the perpetrators and victims make the story that much more intriguing or significant. :rolleyes:

I would prefer to focus on what's keeping us all oppressed, not just groups of people that have State-designated identifiers imposed on them. The racial and cultural concerns play right into the State's hands and make it that much easier for them to justify their oppressive policies.

But getting back to the thread... this is why people need to protect themselves, with firearms or whatever that may be.
