Chris Matthews Falsely Accuses Ron Paul of Saying He‘d ’Let Someone Die’ During GOP Debate

In the aftermath of a highly scrutinized outburst during Monday night’s GOP debate, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews has tried to pile onto the healthcare question controversy with the demonstrably false claim that Ron Paul said he would let someone die if that person did not have insurance.

Actually, Congressman Paul did not say that.

All that is required to disprove Matthews’s odious allegation is a short viewing of the debate clip in question.

When asked who should pay for a fictitious, gravely injured man without insurance, Ron Paul balked at the current welfare state, and the assumption that people should throw themselves into the care of government whenever they have a health problem.

As a physician with decades of experience practicing medicine, one would hope the media would at least be willing to listen to Ron Paul when it comes to healthcare.

But alas, it seems Matthews has a target, and it appears it’s the reputation of Rep. Paul, facts be damned.

When CNN’s Wolf Blitzer pushed him on the question “Are you saying the society should just let him die?“ Paul responded ”No.”

So did Chris Matthews not watch the debate? Or does he just have a really bad short term memory?

Decide for yourself: you can watch Matthew’s allegation, and Ron Paul’s actual debate response to the healthcare question, below, courtesy of Media Research Center:
