Did you vote for Ross Perot back in '92? (or do you think you would have, if you were too young at that time?)

I wasn't old enough to vote when he ran but I knew he was special. His view on the War on Drugs was atrocious, though. How can you be against the Iraq War and be fore the War on Drugs? It's pretty much the same thing if not worse because it's a war on the citizens of your own country.

Fun fact #1: Ron Paul's 1988 VP, Andre Marrou, was the Libertarian Party 1992 nominee who ran against Perot

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAiDZGwzkXI

Fun fact #2: Perot bankrolled Rick Perry's 2010 campaign for governor (if you can't find the source from google, I'll see if I can dig up the source again)

I was pretty young, but I remember my parents liking him.

I do recall him being associated with big ears and a whiny voice, so my guess is that the media did a number on him.

Yes I did . I did it because I wanted a third party to get enough of a percentage to become a factor.

I was not old enough to vote yet, but I zealously campaigned for Bush. But if I had had the mindset then that I do now, I would have supported Perot.

And being short (He was 5'6")

As for the media doing a number on him, IMO this clip here pretty much sums it up:

I most definitely did not vote for him.

I donated money to, and campaigned for, Pat Buchanan. Then when he didn't get the nomination, I wrote his name in, anyhow.

Me too! I was 18 and it was my first presidential election. Have been voting third party ever since.
I had to hold my nose and register Republican this year, NY is a closed primary state.

I was in elementary school.. but I was able to convince my mom at least that it was worth giving your vote to someone you really believe in rather than voting for the lesser of two evils. Of course I didn't use those words exactly because I don't know if I had ever heard the phrase before (lesser of two evils).

I will say this, that anyone that can quit, and then get back and still be allowed in the debates as an independent was serving a purpose for the establishment.

No, but I probably should have. (I'm ashamed to admit I voted for Clinton).

It is in the Smithsonian with some other campaign stuff. I, and some of the other campaign staff packed it up and sent it.

And I, for one, enjoyed voting for someone who wore a beard.

Do you know what sucks?

Even in the 1988 Presidential election before Perot ran, I was barely old enough to communicate, and it STILL really bothered me inside that the only choice my parents had for their ruler was this one dude and this other dude who let murderers out of jail.

Little did I know there was a THIRD option  If I knew about him back then I'm convinced I would have been a Ron Paul supporter by kindergarten without any significant parental guidance :p

I was 10 years old, so, no.

But your second question: would I have? Depending on your phrasing... but at *that* time, no. Even though I was 10 at the time, I was very politically aware (or so I thought) and supported (the elder) Bush and Republicans in general. I supported straight Republicans until around 2003, when Bush started talking about Iraq seriously.

I voted Badnarik in 2004, despite knowing nothing about him at all. Just didn't want to vote for Bush again.

Now, knowing what I know *now* - absolutely, if I could travel back and vote, I'd choose Perot over Bush I and Clinton.

Why is this question something we should consider on a Ron Paul forums page?

Trying to say something?

I was just remembering him not two minutes ago. then he pops up here on this poll.

Wonder if Ron Paul should bring him up when he talks about the economy and Ross's "giant sucking sound you hear is jobs going overseas"
:D

Loved those charts and graphs.

At least I was not the only one who voted for him. :)

IF Ross Perot had become President, our country would not be the mess it is today. Period. :)

Perot was leading in the polls actually until he made the huge blunder of pulling out, only to get back in a few weeks/month later.

To answer the OP's original question, no I did not, and in hindsight I humbly regret it; this was the 1990s and I was in serious sheeple mode. Besides, it was an economic boom for much of the decade, so what did I care about politics? Now I did seriously consider Perot in '92, but was too swayed by the Clinton popularity. In 96, fuggedabouit, Clinton was doing great, why rock the boat? Looking back, I would've voted for Perot in a heartbeat.
