Might have been due to the "increased terror threat".

That's really impressive, were there any other guests on that show that could also have accounted for that? Like a Kardashian or something?

The thought crossed my mind, but why would so many young people tune in because of the terrorist threat? Plus, that was on all the news channels, not just cnn.

You know who else was on? Valerie Jarrett LOL. Also, I see Morgan promoted Ron's appearance on his twitter feed and blog:

The people that like Fox News go to Fox News. A lot of young people HATE Fox News. If I had a choice between the two, I would go to CNN. Then again there's MSNBC, so I could be wrong.

Then again, I just go to the drudge report, which is where I heard about it first.

I'm not trying to bring everyone down, a lot of that could be to do with Ron Paul, but I think it was the terror story.

I guess the only way we can know is if we monitor Paul's other appearances. If those appearances show ratings boost then we'll know if it's Paul or not. Either way, Morgan is happy as hell and for all he knows it's because of Paul.

Terror threat or not -- tripled ratings for that particular show give Ron Paul that much wider audience to speak to! :-D WIN EITHER WAY!

Holy crap... The Hannity show is that powerful??? That's pretty sad.

His lead in is O'Reilly which is #1 on foxnews, I doubt he would do so well if it weren't for that. His show was much more interesting with Colmes.

That's nothing compared to Limbaugh's radio show, or Hannity's radio show for that matter, or Levin's.

If it was because of the terrorist threat wouldn't all the networks get a bump? Instead we see both Hannity and Maddow at average viewership levels. So I don't see that explaining 3x the normal viewership for Morgan.

Especially amongst the younger demographic. In any case, I think this definitely warrants Morgan giving Ron a full hour episode like he did Mitt Romney back in January. Mitt gave him nearly a million viewers and I think Ron can beat it.

It is terrific! But it is more like double plus, look at Hannity's numbers. Both Hannity and Piers Morgan were lower on Wednesday due to the debate, and Piers' likely would have gone back up to Tuesday's numbers on Thursday in any event. Ron got it still more than DOUBLE Morgan's Tuesday show, though.

A better indicator would be the ratings for the show on Piers Morgan where Ron got the first 15 minutes and Mark Sanford got the other 45 minutes. It happened right after the Candy Crowley video following Ames went viral.

That was August 15th and Morgan's ratings were about average. I think it's important to note that was a last minute appearance, at least I didn't see it promoted anywhere like this last episode was, hell, I didn't even know he was on until after it happened.

Ron was on Piers 2-3 weeks back as well. Check the ratings then and see if the boost is consistent with this week's boost.
