Seems as if Gunny is on the correct side of this issue and voters in North Carolina agree. Even if PPP is wrong on this and it is only 50%, and even taking a worst case scenario of 45% opposed, this bodes well for Gunny. I also like how he can be seen as bucking his party to go with the populist fervor on this issue. Thoughts?

Also noteworthy:

* Generic Legislative Ballot is out and Republicans gained a couple of points, very nice.
* 47% of Republicans are opposed to the Amendment.
* Governor Perdue was helped by Hurricane Irene.

If it ends up being on the ballot, I think it may pass. Obama's reelection will probably bring out the black vote again. In California they may have been responsible for their amendment passing.

I'm torn on the issue. I know if licensed gay marriage isn't stopped then we will get it eventually. I just don't see much pressure in the direction of unlicensing marriage. And that thought almost makes me want to vomit.

I would vote in favor of it. Anything that prevents the government from expanding it's role in marriage is a good thing.

I'm for it. This isn't about government meddling in marriage. It's a defensive action against something I don't want to see in North Carolina. Ever.

Apparently Glen's stance had made him a target of a conservative group, the Family Research Council.

I might vote for the amendment if it is on the ballot - but it's not something I care much about. There are plenty of other isses the Legislature can spend its time on.

Why wouldn't Glen vote to allow the people of North Carolina a chance to vote on this amendment? That's all that would happen if the North Carolina legislature voted to pass this amendment.

people should be more concerned about who they marry instead of who others marry. The government just needs to get out of it 100% and churchs can do whatever they want in their churches and the nosey folks need to mind their own f'in business. religion did not invent marriage. Marriage should be between individuals not people who are nosey and wanting to dictate to others how they should live!!! i am tired of the homophobes and right-wing nuts one in the same!!
