mind you, you have to scroll down to the bottom for this nugget. Still...

Mark McKinnon, a former adviser to President George W. Bush and Sen. John McCain in their presidential campaigns, said the debate contained "great theater, good fireworks. Rick Perry is the front-runner and he did nothing last night to knock himself off that status. Mitt Romney was solid as he has been in the recent debates."

McKinnon also complained that Texas Rep. Ron Paul "gets ignored by the media" but has a great deal of popularity.

"If the economy doesn't get better than it is right now, Ron Paul can be the nominee and win this nomination," McKinnon said.

Great hearing this from McKinnon. We are headed for the White House folks!

Ron Paul will be the nominee and win this nomination.

He actually has a chance this time, it's still a long shot but if the economy keeps going in the crapper, the more people will remember someone mentioning this Ron Paul guy who predicted this whole mess... :)

Rick Perry is the front-runner and he did nothing last night to knock himself off that status.I disagree with him on that. I thought he had a bad debate performance. Mitt Romney looked a lot better from the perspective of the ABO/electability-above-all Republican voter. Perry stirred up controversy and shook some faith in his rock solidness with the Social Security ponzi scheme comments, among other things. There were grumblings about whether he really is the guy who can win.

We just have to keep reminding people that despite all the political circus shows the recession is not over and will not end, the market will continue to crash and the government isn't doing anything about and has no plans to.

Let's don't. Just because he's not on script doesn't make him trustworthy.

He worked for Dubya. Think about it...

Go back and check out the ways that W answered debate questions leading up to the 2000 primaries. Listen to how he spoke while campaigning for governor of Texas. Now listen to Perry. Perry is NOT Bush. Perry can't hold W's jock.

There's no depth to Perry. And the same applies to Romney. As far as I can tell, only Paul and Huntsman speak intelligently, with words backed by conviction and confidence in their knowledge and history. The others are empty suits. Only Paul and Huntsman have a shot at knocking Obama off.

Sometimes I wonder whether comments like that are compliments to RP or are rather warnings to the establishment.

That is actually a really good sign when you have mainstream political types finally admitting RP can win.

Huntsman has very strong liberal leanings... That said, he does command respect for his thoughtful responses to questions and it is particularly impressive to hear him speak mandarin.
