Tracking requires knowing who purchased the specific card and also knowledge that they are the ones who are still using it (or knowing who it was transfered to). Currently only transactions (buying the cards) of such cards in amounts of $10,000 or above are tracked (so get one with less than that amount such as $9000 on it!). They can know what transactions are made and the location but cannot be certain exactly who was the person making the transaction with certainty.

I know the "Green Dot" ones (available at Walmart/CVS/Etc.) require that you register it with a social security number in order to activate it. The only truly anonymous way to pay for something I can think of is with cash (I'm sure they're working on that though).

Until they run the surveillance video through the facial recognition software.

Gotcha.
