Did this have any sort of grassroots/campaign organization? If not, that is pretty damn impressive. Even if it did, it's still pretty impressive.

None that I know of. I search for straw poll info almost daily.

PBS is part of the Old World Odor of the Counsel on Foreign Realtions...so the poll is more than likely tainted.

Um, this is a STRAW poll, taken at the MN State Fair.

Conducted at the Republican Party's booth.

I'm confident Ron Paul will get 3rd or better in the Minnesota caucuses. And I'm super confident he will WIN Blue Earth county, as he did nearly four years ago. I was happy to be a part of that.

Bachmann used the GOP booth as her personal campaign booth. We had our own Ron Paul booth at the fair, where our signups exceeded Bachmann's 2300 number.

Third in the MN Caucuses? Pffftttt. Give our dedicated volunteers and precinct captains some credit. ;)

What were the sign-ups for?

People who committed to attending the caucuses for RP.

Yeah, when I was tabling the RP booth at the MN state fair, there were TONS of supporters! For the 5 hours I was there, there were only a few minutes where we didn't have people walking up.

It's good to see Bachmann ahead of Perry there. By the time Minnesota actually votes, Bachmann will have dropped out and we can try to persuade her supporters to vote for Ron Paul instead.

He came in 3rd in MD with 17% behind Perry in Romney at our state fair in MD. I think I should've tried harder to organize local RP supporters to make them aware of the event. I voted on the last day, and wasn't even sure it was going on during the entire fair.

rick perry has two second place wins, now... namely MN + MD
and he was third in Georgia. mitt romney came in second in N.H!
michele bachmann was 1st at Ames and 1st in MN so we cannot
immediately say any one candidate is sweeping all the straw polls.
if ron paul continues to be top three and keeps this up, he ceases
to be just one of texas's favorite sons. as to ms. bachmann not being
thought of as only a favorite daughter, she needs to be top 3 or better.
mitt romney has been the most lackluster and unorganized of the top
tier candidates. herman cain needs another win and he ceases to be
regional. mitt romney intends to run a tv set campaign that is ad heavy.

If Bachmann is still running, I'm calling a 2nd place finish for Paul. If she's out, we'll win. I would put money on it.

Northern Minnesota is where I'm from and there is definitely a "Good-Ole-Boy" network up here that's going to be hard to overcome but I'm optimistic that, if we can win Northern Minnesota, we'll win all of Minnesota.

I'll never forget when I went to the Blue Earth County GOP convention for Ron Paul. I had never been to one of those before, but there were hundreds of people there. The Chair asked for a show of hands (after excitedly saying he'd never seen this many people at their convention before) for how many were there for the first time ever. WELL over half raised their hands. I'm positive all, or nearly all, were there just because of Ron Paul.

As a side note, on caucus night last time around, my wife and I went to our precinct in Lake Crystal. We were both wearing Ron Paul stickers on our shirts, but I was afraid we might get beat down or something, so we had light jackets on to cover them up. We arrived early and sat kind of nervously. But after like 30 or 40 more folks came in, and the majority of THEM had Ron Paul stickers on as well, we took our jackets off and were comfy. :)

Then my doctor was there, sat next to us, and nominated me for Vice Chair. I won without even a "campaigning" word!
