Doesn't sound like much of a minority....

The last I heard it hadn't crossed 50% yet, but it will soon.

California is a huge State. Depends on where you are. Localized "majorities" can be anything, and almost all international groups are represented somewhere.

And then people act shocked why California is Oppression USA? Minorities are more gullible than the nativeborn, but the nativeborn are on the fast track to catch up with them.

There was a recent poll in California I thought.

You mean the USC poll in which Ron Paul got 59% of the black vote and lead with 18% of the non-white vote?

Just to put some more polling context for the 59% black and 18% non-white votes (note not restricted to Republican votes), there were 70 and 460 responses respectively to those categories.

Breaking down the non-white votes,
Ron Paul gets 40% from independent, 9% republican, 5% democrat
(5% democrat is the highest any candidate got but 40% independent is way higher than Romney's 14%)

But breaking down by the entire party id and not just non-white,
Ron Paul leads with 22% independent over Romney's 18%.

Of those who voted for Obama in 2008, Ron Paul is also way ahead with 26% votes compared to Romney's 14%.

Here's an example. These are just the Chinese that became "legal permanent residents". The temporary and illegal number is much higher. The majority of them came to Silicon Valley in California.

The United States is the most popular destination for Chinese emigrants, with rich Chinese praising its education and healthcare systems. Last year, nearly 68,000 Chinese-born people became legal permanent residents of the U.S.

The crosstabs show Ron Paul leading with the Asian vote in California although the sample is relatively small with 59 responses. Ron Paul leads with 23% of the votes from Asians.

Is minority synonymous with non-caucasian in newspeak?

Enough of the racism.

Depends on the context, but that's generally it. That definition is out of date in many areas now.

A lot of people prefer to look at the world in binary. Things have to be simplified to absurdity in an effort to only have two choices. Minority/Majority. Black/White. Republican/Democrat. Straight/Gay. Christian/Muslim. Evolution/Creation. Pro-life/pro-choice. Liberal/Conservative. Us/them.

O ya I was talking about the recent poll not the state demographic. Should have labeled thread better.

California is great because its diversity.

When I hang out with my friends, it's almost like being at the UN.
