The concept of a video contest is great...but....why does the maker have to be in the video?

A better idea would be to have a Ron Paul political ad contest and use the market to find the best Ron Paul marketers.

I want to watch a video which pumps up the grassroots and converts new voters.

Since the vast majority of Ron Paul supporters don't look like you... their ugly mugs in a video just won't do the trick :)

Maybe consider altering that contest rule?

I did some brainstorming last night. It's hard to fit in what I want in UNDER 60 seconds but I did it.

I think this is a great idea and could easily be compiled into a longer grassroots support video.

Looking forward to submitting mine! :)

Be creative... you don't necessarily have to show your face. You could also be in a group with other people. Use clever camera angles... use body parts other than your face (NO, not that! I was thinking HANDS!)... use that soft focus filter they use on aging starlets. If you face is that... uhhh, let's say unique... wear a Dick Parrot shirt and get your hot neighbor to wear the Ron Paul shirt to show what happens when you support Parrot... a before and after spot perhaps? Maybe a strong backlight with a focus light on the shirt design, but not the face... like one of those anonymous interview clips.

Just coming up with ways to be on camera... without being on camera... might spark some really good ideas.

Basically, be creative!!!

I was kicking around an idea, but I really didn't want to show my face. Maybe I'll figure something out that is as Tarzan put it, more creative...haha I personally think videos of ppl just standing there talking is boring.

One of the points is to have your friends and family get involved. When people do something for the campaign, they feel more connected to it, and are more likely to be excited about this campaign. Showing your friends this kind of thing, shows that you're that much more involved.

AGREED! Young or Old, once the message of Ron Paul is heard, or understood, your eyes open up so much and you want to be a part of this campaign even more....

How strict is Rule #2?

So far only 2 are 'under' 60 seconds. 4 others are 1:00 and 1 is 1:15.

I just compiled mine but the thing is 1:06. Should I rework it a bit to shave 6 seconds? Or I guess 7 seconds to get to 59?

I believe 60 seconds is fine, 59 seconds is better. But 61 seconds will disqualify you, potentially. I'd cut it down to be safe.

Try your best to get it to a minute.....I've heard from a lot of people that their videos are :59 seconds in length, and when they upload it to youtube, it adds a second! So I would think 60 seconds would work!

"Try leaving it as a video response to a completely different video (it will now have a * listed next to the title indicating that it is being used as a response to a different video) and then re-try leaving it as a video response to the one you actually want it to be a response to."

Kuddos to all the folks who have submitted Videos!!!

Remember that you can be creative. Use ideas from commercials, TV shows, movies and other sources. They can be a great inspiration. Below is a compilation of clips from well known film directors. Keep in mind you don't need loads (or any) special effects... no helicopters needed, etc. But take a look at some of the camera angles... lighting and other techniques. Go have a look at other compilations to help spark ideas to make your video something really catchy. Commercials can provide a good guide as they are time limited and get their message across quickly, effectively and memorably.

Here's a compilation to help get your own creative juices flowing:
many others are out there... use the resources of the net to get other ideas

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxZfeVQRanM

Consider memorably movie scenes, commercials everyone remembers, something off center (like trunk monkey). Super hero movies and showdowns (western or samurai) could prompt a script that almost writes itself. Blair Witch Project (ick), an interview format (ala 60 minutes), music videos, new report theme... could all give your video a memorable quality (and, maybe a winner!) Plus, your videos will be out there to promote Ron Paul... so, the more views the better. Something catchy could potentially go viral. So slap on those thinking caps... get some inspiration for your video... and let's see something awesome for Ron Paul.
