This is bullshit. Now *all* the focus will be on her. MSM will eat it up. She already takes 4% from Paul's numbers as it is.

Obviously it's all about her because she's more worried about hyping up the media and playing footsie with all the pundits and getting them excited than she is about ideas and conviction. If this wasn't true, she wouldn't be doing this "oh, maybe" for the past several months.

I guess she is running. If she is, say good bye to 50% of bachman's vote, and 20% of Perry's vote.

She still hasn't announced she is running. And I would welcome the pull from Perry's numbers, and another candidate to call him out. She will fade quickly, and then we can recover any support she took and net the supporters that will drop from Perry if he is vetted.

This can certainly work to our benefit. It may keep some of that support that Perry is feeling right now from congealing.

Odd that CNN hasn't reported on this given that they are sponsoring the debate. I'm sure if CNN had confirmation, they would like to be the one to break the news regarding their debate.

Agreed. It complicates things for Paul's opponents. Palin divides the enemy vote more than she cuts into Paul's vote. One or more other frontrunner's numbers may drop below Paul's. That weakens the MSM's attempt to make it look like only Perry, Bachmann, and Romney matter. And if they add Palin to the list of frontrunners to make it a four way top tier, how then will they explain Paul's exclusion from the top tier?

Correction: Friday, September 2, 2011:

An article on Friday, September 2, 2011, about an upcoming Tea Party debate incorrectly stated that 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, Sarah Palin, would be a participant. While the former governor of Alaska was invited to attend the debate, her camp has yet to confirm her participation. Instead, CNN confirmed that Palin will participate in the upcoming Tea Party Rally that will take place in Iowa on Saturday.

Correction: Friday, September 2, 2011:

I wondered about that, because I didn't know the debate was touted as a "Tea Party debate"

This isn't bad news......yet.

The neocons will be befuddled with their dizzying choices from the all you cant eat buffet of neocon sameness. That is until Palin and Perry join forces. There will be a window of opportunity for RP to appeal to the independents and disaffected D's and R's.

No she didn't.

She confirmed going to the RALLY, but has not responded to the DEBATE invitation.

running would ruin her chances of her ever staying a major voice in the Republican party. she will fade just as Buchanan did.

Apparently she's eligible to take part in the debate, which is B.S. It should only be open to those who have announced their candidacy by now. Giving her an opportunity to mess with the process without being part of the race is unacceptable.

Participants had two different opportunities to be eligible to take part in the Sept. 12th debate:

– A person must have received an average of at least 2.00% in at least three national polls released between July 1 and July 31 that were conducted by the following: ABC, AP, Bloomberg, CBS, CNN, FOX, Gallup, Los Angeles Times, Marist, McClatchy, NBC, Newsweek, Pew, Quinnipiac, Reuters, USA Today and Time.

-OR-

– A person must have received an average of at least 2.00 % in at least three national polls released between August 1 and August 31 that were conducted by the following: ABC, AP, Bloomberg, CBS, CNN, FOX, Gallup, Los Angeles Times, Marist, McClatchy, NBC, Newsweek, Pew, Quinnipiac, Reuters, USA Today and Time.

It seems Palin's role is to attack Perry:

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Though she won't be a candidate when she delivers a major address at a tea party rally in Iowa on Saturday, Sarah Palin will make it clear that she if enters the presidential race later this month she will vociferously challenge Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s engrained image of solidarity with the tea party movement.
In her speech at the bucolic National Balloon Classic field in Indianola, Palin will lean on loaded phrases like “crony capitalism” and “permanent political class” in laying out her view of the U.S. political system’s deep-rooted ills, according to a source close to Palin and familiar with the content of the speech.

You have to wonder who this benefits. Romney?

Good point. This will further divide pro war, pro police state, pro debt increase/foreign spending vote.

This is wonderful news.
