Consumer advocate Ralph Nader, whose third-party presidential candidacy some Democrats credited with handing the 2000 election to George W. Bush, has a new model for challenging President Obama from the left in 2012.

Nader proposes to assemble a large group of Democratic candidates to take Obama to task on a variety of issues.

The press would ignore one lesser-known candidate, Nader told The Daily Caller, but an unorthodox “slate” of candidates would attract more attention.

“So you have to have several people of distinguished backgrounds — different distinguished backgrounds — run as a slate in various primaries so that he can’t ignore someone who has a military-foreign policy background, environmental background, poverty-labor background. See what I mean?” Nader explained.

Multiple candidates would also be more powerful, he declared.

Sounds like an idea that has been floated on here, but it won't work in a national Presidential race. Nader should jump in as a Democrat and see what happens, although he's still persona non grata after the 2000 election. He should have run for Congress in Connecticut, he would have had some kind of a platform with which to stand on.

Many Democrats are upset with Obama, and it would be good for the Democrat Party to bring in someone to challenge him. Otherwise, if they don't, it shows the Democrats to be cowardly and no different than the Republicans in putting "Party" before "country".

So, what happened to the idea that we were going to win over a bunch of leftists because Obama is a warmonger?
Did everyone wake up and realize that's not going to happen, or are we giving up on that for some other reason?
'Cause as soon as antiwar leftists enter the race, none of them are going for Paul. Their antiwar leftists don't even have to be truly antiwar - they just have to not be Obama.
