Don't go to check donation totals, don't go to check to see if the site is down, just don't go. It's that simple. The last thing we want is for the site to go down on the biggest fundraising day of the year. After what happened after Leno and a few other times we need to keep traffic as low as possible. Please just make your donation and get out of there. If you want to see the money coming in just go to http://www.ronpaulgraphs.com/

Also, if you can it might help to make your donations early in the morning. I plan to donate at about 1 or 2 tonight before bed.

Maybe we could put the widget up here on Ron Paul Forums?

I'm still in favor of set donating times for each region to spread out the traffic throughout the day.

Add http://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate/ too so that people won't eat up bandwith with the flash stuff on the home page.

That would be good, but pretty hard to coordinate. As long as we can get a few thousand people to do so it might help though.

Yes, I think this is a must.

Also, I can't count the number of times when the site is down that people report back here whether or not the site is working for them when they try it. This must stop. When the site is down we don't need thousands of people checking it out and increasing the traffic to report back here about whether it is functioning.

If everyone on the forums tries to donate at unusual donating hours that would help out

If you look at Ron Paul graphs, you can see that the lowest donating hours are typically 1 am-7 am since people are usually sleeping. I suggest donating during those times if it's possible - at least for those of us who are on the latenight crew :D

Also maybe someone can start an "Official Donation Count" thread and keep us all updated so we don't wonder what the total is

Tomorrow will be a great day. Mass Ron Paul donations AND both Dexter and Curb Your Enthusiasm will be TiVo'd ready to watch.

Just download the page annd don't refesh it and it will act like a widget and will not hurt the bandwith, if I'm right.

What happens if we only raise like $100,000 for the entire day?

better idea:
get a real campaign manager to get a properly built server farm.

That would be nice, but we have to take what we've got.

I hope the emails are legitimate and not some spammers trying to raise expectations, only to have the media jump on the "failed" grassroots effort. We could easily verify by taking most of the yahoo accounts and then viewing the profile, and viewing "last modified" -- that is most likely when it was created. If you have TON of emails created in the last week, we know something is up.

It's up now- that was the plan. :)

You can also monitor campaign donations with the Ron Paul Donations Firefox Extension created by forum member ashlux:
http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=31061

It's pretty nice. So you can watch all day at work without ever being on a Ron Paul site, next we need a desktop widget so you don't need a browser open. Just put the donation count right next to the system clock. :)

we definately need to go straight to http://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate and stay off for the rest of the day

bogging down the system will keep many people from donating who dont have time to wait for the server to clear.

Could we just jack it into my head with some kind of Matrix device?
