If you help out that will inform some users on Facebook about Nov 5th, definitely kicking in a few hundred bucks just from your one message. If you don't want to give out your e-mail/password, there's also "Option 2", and even if you don't have a Facebook account you can help.

Please! If you really support Dr. Paul, you have to do this.

EDIT: This program is OPEN SOURCE - which means if you think I'm going to steal your password you can read the source for yourself and see that I'm not.

You will NOT be marked as a spammer, Facebook has a warning system which notifies the program to stop sending messages. For this reason, you cannot run this program more than once.

If you see an error message trying to do Option 1, then just do Option 2.

Oh and:

This is probably the greatest news ever from Facebook. In the works...

"Sending messages to your big groups.

We'll be removing the cap on messaging groups over 1,000 people. You can opt-out of messaging for large groups that you've joined."

I wonder if it has anything to do with the lengthy suggestion I sent them earlier today? :)

One more thing: Rob, are you sure the updater is working properly at the very bottom? The count still says 37111 but in Facebook it has over 37,998 at the moment.

Will i get banned from Facebook by doing this?

No, it will stop sending messages before you get marked as a spammer. It knows how to do that.

I decided to make it a constant value because I didn't want to bother to check Facebook for that information each time. ;) It's not that important. I updated it to 40,000.

Is this linked to the Students for Ron Paul Facebook group or to Ron's personal Facebook group?

I would imagine that Students would be less likely to donate 100$

Ron's personal page has 35,000 members:

Rob, I hope that effective tomorrow, you turn this technology towards 11/11. It's a great system you have devised.

This what I got and I have Facebook for 2 months but haved never used it other than to give Ron a vote..

This account doesn't have enough privileges. (it might be too new) You can verify it on Facebook by trying to send a message to a stranger, and clicking Verify Account when the popup comes up. This will require a cell phone with texting capabilities. You can also go back and use option 2.

Fortunately, Facebook will let you message groups with 1,000 members soon. :)

matthylland you won't be able to, since Facebook gives you a warning message before you get marked (that is what this system detects).

The cool thing about this is that once we get to, say, 5%, it should fuel itself because each message advertises the script. :)

Alright! It's definitely working! Let's do this, people!
.

Ok.. signed up and sent a few..

I went back to the script page and sent a couple more..

so far.. the first one was sent twice to the same person.. then 13 more mails..

(I gave facebook my cell # to quit getting the confirm pop-ups)

I re-ran the script again (total of 3 times).. and I can send more..

Is that ok?... or should I stop at 14?

great ! but maybe too late ?

hmmm, looking at meetup it doesn't seem too difficult to loop over all groups and extract the group members ...

since i'm not a php guy i could offer to do part of the work and extract a list of all ron paul meetup group members (format [member id],[group id],[name] if possible excluding duplicate memberships ) and you create the php frontend that does the login and message sending ? :D

There are significant problems with Meetup. I've been working on it for some time. You have to send messages from the email account with which you joined Meetup, and they won't let you send any more than three messages per day to mailing lists. And there are severe limits on how many groups you can join per day. And a lot of the groups have the mailing list feature turned off. :-(

there is no problem with meetup, you can sendout 25 messages per day (directly to other meetup members).
i already compiled a list of all rp meetup members and sent it to TechnoGuyROb so that he can write a similar script for meetup...

anyway, this thread is about facebook ;)

I was talking about to the *mailing lists* eg. ronpaul-123@meetup.com that gets distributed to all members of Ron Paul meetup group number 123. They limit that to three per day.

How did you get a list of all 62,000 individuals' emails? Wow! Obviously, that's the way to go, and obviates the problems I was encountering.
