View Full Version : Who is your 2nd choice among these candidates?

Havax

Gun to your head who do you choose? Saying something cliche like "pull the trigger" will be hijacking the thread. Obviously Gary Johnson would be everyone's second choice or voting 3rd party - but just assume for the purpose of the thread that you must select a candidate above. I'm curious to see where people fall.

My 2nd choice matches my first choice... does that count?

ETA: did not vote as RP is not on that list.

Your assumption that I would vote for continued slavery is frankly insulting. RP or the streets for me.

Yes - he's actually polling just a "Thad" more than I am right now...

Though, for him to beat Mickey Mouse, he's going to have to step it up a bit...

I picked Rick Perry, the biggest tyrant of them all. I say let's burn this sucker to the ground and then rebuild from the ashes!

Why pick someone who's "kinda" for freedom? Luke-warm is the worst!

I would agree.
None listed.

If there was no better option among third party candidates,, I would write in Mickey Mouse.

Consider your thread hijacked then.

Pull the trigger.

As somebody already noted, it's Ron Paul or I hit the streets.

I will not endorse another establishment tool.

1) Voting is not endorsement.

2) Palin, since she'd get slaughtered in the general.

Is Huntsman antiwar?

He is not a non-interventionist completely, but he is closer to Ron than any of the other candidates, and wants to leave Iraq and Afghanistan.

I chose Bachmann. I could probably vote for her if she won the nomination.

Jon Huntsman on wars in Afghanistan and Iraq: "It's time to come home"

In a portion of Piers Morgan's sit-down with Jon Huntsman that is scheduled to air later this week, the GOP presidential candidate talks about foreign policy – specifically, the "War on Terror." "We don't need 100,000 troops in Afghanistan. this should not be a nation-building exercise," says Huntsman. "It's time to come home."

Huntsman said he would redefine what it is we are fighting. "It is a counter-terror effort that we are waging," he said. "This is an asymmetric war...this is an invisible enemy that doesn't call any nation-state home." Stay tuned for when more of the interview will air on "Piers Morgan Tonight" at 9pmET/PT.

i'd vote for whoever had the best chance of losing against obama at the time. with obama, at least people would still fight against the spending and the wars. if an establishment republican puppet gets in, sooooo many people will get completely complacent.

Bachmann was coming to Ron Paul liberty weekly meetings for more than a year. She said that she brings Mises Human Action to the beach with her. Not sure whether to read or as a ballast. It is a thick book.

Write in RP. Sorry for not playing according to your rules. I honestly don't think I would care who it was if not RP. I may even go as far to say that I don't think they would be any better or worse than BO.

edit: I'm not trying to say that the other candidates are horrible either. It would simply be a different platform with the usual politics.

It's not a bad idea to look at the bigger picture as it were.

Oh sure we all know Ron Paul is unique based on his voting record and integrity, but to me that doesn't mean that all other choices are equally bad.

I still haven't seen anything about Palin that makes me actively dislike her, even though I haven't really researched her, so I'd go for her.

She's not Ron Paul, but I think she is still very much her own person and not under the complete control of the establishment.

And come on now, Alaska is a cool state any way you look at it! ;)

Who is Thad ?

A guitar playing congressman. He played with his band at the YR Strawpoll in New Hampshire. He was pretty good.

However, the speech he gave was like listening to a book on tape that was intended to put you to sleep.

I picked Palin. She seems much more easy to be swayed, and the establishment hates her more. Not great on wars, but better than Bachman, and talks more libertarian talk.

The last thing I would want is a Republican at the helm when the real crisis comes. Despite the fact that Republicans are not necessarily followers of the Austrian school, Krugman has already attempted to paint all Republicans as Austrians in his columns. Everyone here should know that they will blame the free-market as the sole reason for the collapse and will cast us as the villains.
