I know the hand wringers will come out in force over this, but can anyone really complain when the full campaign ad +++ is getting play on the front page center of Slate?

IMHO - FANTASTIC!

He's catchin' on I'm tellin' ya!

What a pitiful attempt at a hit piece. Thanks for getting our ad out there!

I have to say, I agree with schmeisser - kudos to Slate! They try to bash him, but he just comes out on top! (All the voice overs except 1 say how great Ron Paul is, despite the ad.)

bad, it's the best thing that could ever happen! They play the whole ad for free and then show people criticizing it. I think it will backfire and make people curious about what supporters will want. Those voiceovers are actually just as bad as the commercial itself.

first they ignore you
then they laugh at you
then they attack you
then they attack you attacking you (which makes people wonder why?)
then you win

Infiniti is the advertiser supporting the Slate V series, if it bothers you I suggest that angle of attack - it has legs.

"Roast me! Hang me! Do whatever you please," said Brer Rabbit. "Only please, Brer Fox, please don't throw me into the briar patch (hit pieces giving me name recognition)."

I guess my question is this: how many readers of slate.com either haven't heard of Ron Paul or haven't made up this mind about him? I really think we're invincible against internet hit pieces at this point.

It is telling me the "video is unavailable". Anyone else have problems at the moment?

Did they take it down? I can't get to the video. Can someone provide another link?

I took me a while to get it to load. I had to allow javascript from four external sites. That and I think we're all trying to watch it along with the Sunday crowd at Slate.

Well that site has never been fare be RP anyways so this isnt that great of an ad, anyone who pulls up the website will just agree even more.

I had a feeling this would happen, bottom line is how can we get new people to support RP if we, the grassroots doesnt even support him and his ads.

I dont see it as a hit piece, but just a continuation of the slanderous campaign by slate.

I cerntainly dont want to give the piece any weight by clicking on that link though. I also wish people who think this is a hit piece would post it in the bad media forum.

WHile the ad does lack the presence (obviously) of professional actors it does get the idea across. I can actually get behind saving a few campaign dollars by not using actors who could make a better presentation.

I guess Slate is showing Ron Paul supporters as, um, let's see, verbal, critical-thinking, skeptical, resistant to top-down shenanigans, fiercely wanting our guy to win, not limiting our wrath merely to the mainstream media, and, um, painfully earnest, outspoken, and forthright.

:D

So I guess we are of the opinion that no publicity is bad publicity. Works for me.

I think it's great they're giving us free advertising time to millions of their visitors.
