Excellent analysis. But I would add that neo-conservatism never really amounted to much without the sponsorship of Dick Cheney. It was dying even in the second Bush term. It remains a force in the conservative media with the Wall Street Journal, the Weekly Standard, the National Review, and talk radio. But it lacks support among the grass roots. But even this shell of support must eventually fade as it becomes ever more obvious that we cannot afford such fantasies.

Neo-conservatism dead? Really it established some huge departments which have grown bigger since the Obama presidency and neo-conservatism is dead? I think not. Anyone who has been paying attention to what is going on will know that neo-conservatism is in the hands of oligarchy and it is alive and powerful still.Until AIPAC is removed from controlling congressmen ,neo-conservatism will continue to work behind the scenes in congress.
