Perry's record is his own worst enemy. But in his defense, this was still when he was a democrat, Lol. ;)

That letter is from 1993. Rick Perry switched to the Republican party in 1989.

I am glad to be mistaken, even better!

Yes, perfect fodder for a drudge "flashback".

I'm just about convinced that Perry is serving as a distraction until Palin decides to enter the race at the last possible moment. Think twice before wasting time on him.

If Perry wasn't in right now, there is a very good chance Ron Paul would be 2nd in the polls.

Maybe, but Romney would probably have double the percentage. Parry splits the establisment vote. He is good.

Breaking... from 1993

He was still for government run healthcare as recently as 2010, when, in the debate for the gubernatorial primary he still proudly defended his HPV vaccine mandate on the grounds that his pro-life-ness made him do it.

What's more legit than the letter itself? His campaign admitted he wrote it.

But it looks to me like the authenticity is not disputed. Is it?

And for most people, doesn't the Houston Chronicle count as a legit news source?

Exactly.

Perry is intentional low hanging fruit. He's a distractive place holder. They might as well resurrect McCain.

They've got the GOP so cut up against us, they'll even got Palin waiting in the wings. And still, if we unite behind RP, they will roll out Trump 3rd party....

I'm just about convinced that Perry is serving as a distraction until Palin decides to enter the race at the last possible moment. Think twice before wasting time on him.My guess is that the establishment is hedging their bets with Romney. They don't want Bachmann to get it, and they SURELY don't want Ron to get it, so they are putting in a better establishment candidate than Romney: Perry.

If Perry doesn't win it, he might just keep the conservatives confused long enough to keep Ron or Bachmann from winning it just like what Fred did back in 2008. Fred kept Huckabee from gaining traction and he is 100% establishment.

Perry is the anointed one... all of this dirt really means nothing. The MSM is not going to run with it... Neocons just want another tough Cowboy to puff up around..

So we can use all of this as much as we like... some of it will work, most of it doesn't matter because Neocons are so ignorant already it doesn't matter if this is really Bill Clinton wearing a Perry mask. They will vote for him just for the R by his name.

Well, the MSM (Drudge included) have gone out of their way NOT to vet Perry, Bachmann, nor Romney; that is for sure.

The only vetting they have conducted is to Ron Paul. We are witnessing a real time puppet theater.

Didn't read the whole thread, but I've heard/read that Perry was a Democrat in 1988 while he chaired AlGore's Texas campaign for President. The following year, 1989, he met Karl Rove and became a Republican. So, when he wrote this letter, he was already GOP.

One-on-one outing of this Perry scoundrel works, though. All I had to say was GARDASIL, and it turned off someone to Perry almost instantaneously.

Who knows. They move things around quite a bit, it could move up as other things drop off. Thankfully they got rid of that picture of Perry, at any rate.

This really is a joke. Perry's "defense" of this letter is that he thought the idea of reforming healthcare was commendable but disagreed with the actual plan. What a piece of garbage.

I guess three years after becoming a Republican well into his adulthood he still trusted the liberal Clintons to do the right thing for conservatives, when no other conservatives did?
