JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. • A Missouri judge has blocked a law restricting Internet communications between teachers and students from taking effect Sunday.

Meanwhile, Gov. Jay Nixon said today that he will ask the legislature during a special session beginning Sept. 6 to repeal specific provisions included in law, which passed unanimously earlier this year. Nixon also said he will seek input from parents and classroom teachers.

Cole County Circuit Judge Jon Beetem issued a preliminary injunction against the law Friday, calling it a staggering prohibition of free speech rights.

Ya think? sometimes I think state legislatures will pass anything in the heat of the moment. Kid falls down and breaks a leg: outlaw high heels. Guy dies from inhaling paint thinner: must have car painted by "professional."

Alabama's collection of geniuses down in Montgomery want to outlaw everything at one time or another. In the past session, they went after bath salts and a Casey Anthony inspired law. At least they were kind enough to allow us good Alabamians to buy beer with a slightly higher alcohol content.

Would there be anything wrong with a local school putting up guidelines for their teachers. Seems like they do behavioral guidelines like this all the time.
