View Full Version : California straw poll registration is finally open!

And it isn't cheap: https://secure.repweb.net/cagop/forms/convention/

I would guess that it would take about 250 votes from the Ron Paul grassroots to win, which would cost $25k in tickets and a couple thousand in robocalling. That's a lot of money for the Freedom & Prosperity PAC to raise in a short amount of time. It would probably require us to win the Georgia straw poll tomorrow and get some publicity for it.

Edit: Another expense would be obtaining the CA voter database (or at least for LA and surrounding counties), which I know nothing about. Only registered Republicans can vote in the straw poll.

What an elitist club, we need to get our boys in there! Hopefully we have some Ron Paul fans who can afford this and know the importance of it

$100 at the door, if i had the money to throw away i'd rather donate it to the campaign rather than give to the GOP

Which the campaign will use to buy ads, giving it to our enemies in the MSM.

To win, money must be spent, and someone we don't like is going to profit.

I'll drop some $ on the Freedom & Prosperity PAC today. Any other way I can help with from the other side of the nation? (NY)

These prices are hardly elitist:

Delegate $95
Associate $95
Guest $90
Youth $60
Please note that the convention registration fees paid on-site will increase by $10 for Delegates, Associate Delegate, Guests and Youth.

Sure, the optional extra VIP events come with additional charges, but thats fairly normal.

I do note that Bachmann is doing an extra charged dinner banquet, RP doesnt' appear to be doing anything like that.

There's no home-field advantage to any candidate except maybe Romney who has a $12 million beach house (and rebuilding it to be 4x bigger). The $90 fee to attend the convention and participate in the straw poll are relatively expensive compared to the Iowa and Georgia polls, but those weren't conferences either.

If we need 250 votes, how many do we have so far?

If you put down the area you are coming from others may be coming from your way. I haven't heard about this much, but I was out of town for a couple weeks, and might have missed stuff. They didn't have tickets for the debate here available, so I want to do something, even if all I can do is vote.

Could somebody explain to me the importance of this? I live about 6 hours away and it's quite pricey. What's this about?

Bay Area? It's a straw poll plus conference/convention so there's various meetings going on as well.

There is financial help on a first come first served basis. You can find contact information in the post above or PM me for the information. The only requirement is that you are a registered Republican.

Yeah I'm in the Bay Area. We're setting up carpooling too plus free tickets. Not quite sure about housing, although if late Friday night means arriving Saturday morning, I guess people could be sleeping on the car.

Wait a second...where's Bachmann? She was supposed to be there too.

She's at dinner Saturday or something. She was the keynote speaker, wonder if they're regretting that? Rumor has it the guy setting it up, before inviting Ron said he 'knew' he could sell tickets for Bachmann but wasn't sure he could sell tickets for Ron Paul....

You can only register online until September 12 (Monday). Presumably that means THROUGH Monday but I wasn't taking a chance and registered.

I might be providing transportation down from the Bay Area as well:
