Awesome police investigative work here!

BURLINGTON, N.C. -- Police found the body of a man inside his backyard shed nearly four months after his wife reported him missing.

Burlington Assistant Police Chief Chris Verdeck told the Times-News of Burlington that the officer who responded to the missing person call in early May checked the man's basement, but failed to check the shed, which is in the middle of a dog pen. [Another cop scared of dogs]

Investigators say a detective went back to the home Tuesday and found the man dead after his wife came to the police station and mentioned she didn't think anyone checked the shed.

Authorities say the 57-year-old man hanged himself. His body has been sent for an autopsy.

Verdeck said he is telling all his officers they need to check all structures on every missing person case.

Awesome.
"Hey, we totally forgot to, you know, look for him... but now that we've discovered his 4-month decomposed body, we're pretty sure it's suicide."

Why didn't his wife just check the shed?

Awesome.
"Hey, we totally forgot to, you know, look for him... but now that we've discovered his 4-month decomposed body, we're pretty sure it's suicide."I'm sure they found a bullet wound on the back of his head or 15 stab wounds in his back...definite signs of suicide if you ask me.

Why didn't his wife just check the shed?

I wondered that too. She went to the police station so she obviously is ambulatory.

Awesome.
"Hey, we totally forgot to, you know, look for him... but now that we've discovered his 4-month decomposed body, we're pretty sure it's suicide." I have a cousin who was murdered and the cops said he hanged himself from his bed post. 2 witnesses saw him murdered yet the cops ruled it a suicide because they were too lazy to investigate. It was a ghetto area of town.

I wondered that too. She went to the police station so she obviously is ambulatory. She should be forced to pay the cost of searching and investigating the case
