The Arizona Republic, Arizona's only statewide newspaper, has a poll every day of the year for some random topic...and today's is "Who is most likely to emerge the GOP candidate for president?" Currently at this much this early in the morning:

Mitt Romney.37.60%
Rick Perry.37.38%
Ron Paul.13.40%
Michelle Bachmann.8.27%
Herman Cain.3.35%
Total Votes: 1343

hxxp://www.azcentral.com/ (EDIT--YOU CAN REFRESH A FEW TIMES AND VOTE MORE THAN ONCE)---- (poll is on right side of page, scroll down a little)

I'm not sure how many hundreds of thousands (over a million?) Arizonans get this paper but crushing Romney and Perry in this poll would be huge.

The poll results are printed in the newspaper itself by the way...it's not simply an online poll. :)

AZ republic sucks. It's certainly the most widely circulated paper (and is found at every major and most minor newsstands), but its reputation is fading pretty fast (like all the other papers). A lot of folks I know of just buy it for the ads and/or horoscopes and comics.

Arizona is very neo-con, don't be fooled.Tucson is overrun with California socialists who dumped their socialist state to come to Az looking for jobs and cheaper living. Laws change often because of californians.I will be surprised if Ron Paul wins Az.

It's one of his top 10 states polling-wise....Ron's only chance to win the nomination will be to get 1st/2nd in early states like Iowa, NH so if he does that he'll jump up in later states like Arizona to win them....where in AZ are you from anyway?

If it is being overrun with socialist Cali's then he should talk a lot about marijuana legalization in AZ. The message of liberty can be tailored to any group.

Marijuana legalization only happened in Arizona because the proposition vote happened when everyone wasn't paying attention and only the advocates went to vote. The governor is so corrupt she is trying to use federal government against the marijuana legalization. She is such a two face when it comes to state rights.

I grew up in Phoenix. I know the state pretty well. The az convention of 2008 GOP was disgusting and abysmal. I really don't think Arizona's political atmosphere has changed but gotten worse.

Is he in AIPAC's pocket?

I VOTED, but saw the poll jump down from 23.01 to 22.99%, that could be due to a couple Perry/Romney votes, but I doubt it. Also, the question is inherently suspect,
the question
Who is most likely to emerge the GOP candidate for president?
Michelle Bachmann.
Herman Cain.
Ron Paul.
Rick Perry.
Mitt Romney.
Who is most likely to emerge the GOP candidate for president?

Who do you *WANT* to win should be the question or who will you *VOTE* for. Asking people to predict the outcome is stupid (in this context). That is what pollsters and prediction markets are for.
