Looks like the devil has finally arrived on our doorstep here in central Illinois. This man's kidneys will not function on their own, he had to have emergency surgery on his nose to remove bone from his brain, and he's on life support. The family is absolutely distraught, and have no idea where to turn to get justice.

The Boston Massacre set the stage of dividing lines between colonials and the British Empire, and yet here in modern america is just another day and another story of how the state nearly killed a man in cold blooded attempted murder.

Kinda off topic --- Just curious what kind of education is required to become a cop? B.S? Associate degree?

I am asking because I read this in the article -

Residents of Washburn say the three officers had been harrassing people earlier in the night.

Looks like other residents are upset too.

She says police kept asking Meinders for his other hand, but continued to tase, hit and stomp on his head. She says her brother was not struggling and was laying on his stomach.

Dirty cops, they get away with attempted homicide and a death threat to tase the wife.

Hey, wait a second - aren't we supposed to believe that there is no other possible way to achieve justice than the state?
Isn't this then justice by definition?
How's that working out for us?

People need to stop calling 911 for domestic disputes. Call a lay person or other counselor, please!

Wonder who made the initial call?

Wondered that myself. My coworker knows the sister so I'm going to find out.

Nosey neighbor called because they heard arguing. Cause you know, late night drunken arguments never happen right? Now a man may die because of a dogooder.

Good luck getting cops to follow any sort of law that they don't like.

It's the good old boys club...a fraternity...the job itself attracts specific types of personalities and motivations and they look out for one another. They become above the law... There was a famous study done at Stanford called the Stanford Prison Experiment http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_prison_experiment

In this case, the police see people as a criminal and easily treat them poorly because they are a "criminal." The more the person resists or gives an attitude, the more poorly they will treat them...after years of police work, seeing crazy stuff these cops become desensitized, burned out, etc...they fly off the handle quickly. Many of the unfit cops probably use cocaine or other drugs to cope which further impairs judgment and creates the potential for corruption.

Only an IQ 80(even lower:toady:) and the willingness to Just Follow Orders. BTW, they wont employ you if you're too smart.

Ad Trevor Varinecz to that list. A 16 Year old Horry County autistic kid who was shot five times by the school cop with ten rounds going off in the cop's office behind a
closed door. The cop's story was that Trevor attacked him with a 12" knife which was a WWII relic yet the so called puncture wounds on the cop's shoulder were like little red marks. The cop was out of the hospital in an hour-Trevor was dead. The cop was cleared of all wrong doing and in back on the job at the same school. Trevor was
NEVER violent and in fact detested violence of any kind.
