Title should've read: "New Gallup Poll." Regardless, this is great news for Ron! I can't understand why there would be so much difference between this poll and the PPP poll.

Ron Paul needs to do what Romney is doing, going to the old folks home and talking. Reassure them that he is the only president that wont allow congress to raid social security and put it on solid footing again. If we can up our numbers with the older people and women we can win this thing.

What's with the senior citizens ? And women? If Ron expands his message to the older folks we would be in a sweet spot.

Yup time to talk to old folks and spread the message. Like other poster suggested, Dr. Paul needs to visit old folks at home and talk to them.

why is this poll so much different PPP? Both are reputable polling companies.

According to how accurate PPP was in Rands race, they arent that reputable IMO.

Of course this means that there are now only two viable contenders in the race, Romney and Perry, unless of course one of the lower polling candidates in single digits makes a surprising comeback or someone new gets into the race.

Nothing new here, move along.

Well the main thing is that we continue working hard in Iowa. That's where the race will be decided.

My grandparents have Paul at the top of their list. My grand father said. "He(Paul) means what he says and says what he means." My grand mother said he speaks "common sense". Four years ago they were skeptical but now they are not. We need to hit the retirement homes etc. Host showing of "For Liberty".

PPP only polled usual republican voters.

Gallup polled republicans AND indies.

I think both are accurate - Ron is pulling in the indies...not so good with the usual repubs.

Yeah, but it's too bad that Perry leaves independents and moderates with a bad taste in their mouths, as does Romney with Tea Party types.

Ron Paul!!!

Thanks for having a real possible explanation and not "PPP is deliberately trying to sink Ron."

Given half a chance, Ron Paul will cream those jokers. They are like movie set store fronts. And once nominated, he would eat Obama for breakfast. He could pound him into the soft, swampy DC ground on the war issue.

Ron Paul Top Three Among GOP Contenders in Gallup Poll
Survey has Paul quietly surging into top three

LAKE JACKSON, Texas – In a new Gallup survey (http://iowaforronpaul.us2.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=af10358490fc15b52a962f667&id=1cfc88ace0&e=faeada51fb), 2012 Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul takes third place among top GOP contenders and is within striking distance of second. The results, which are based on a survey of Republican and Republican-leaning independents, have Paul at 13 percent and ahead of most of the Republican primary field. These results come just a day after a newly released Rasmussen poll (http://iowaforronpaul.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=af10358490fc15b52a962f667&id=09116ac612&e=faeada51fb) showed him within 1 percent of President Obama in a head-to-head match up.

“The campaign is continuing to pick up momentum and energy,” said Ron Paul 2012 Campaign Manager John Tate. “Dr. Paul is gaining ground in poll after poll, affirming that people are looking for real change instead of the status quo they are being offered from the establishment candidates.”

Paul is coming off a strong finish in the Iowa Straw Poll, where he barely missed the top spot by less than one percent. In addition, recent surveys taken in both New Hampshire (http://iowaforronpaul.us2.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=af10358490fc15b52a962f667&id=9f30adab52&e=faeada51fb) and Iowa (http://iowaforronpaul.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=af10358490fc15b52a962f667&id=3973259b76&e=faeada51fb) show the Congressman in the top three of Republican contenders.

Another recent Gallup survey (http://iowaforronpaul.us2.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=af10358490fc15b52a962f667&id=f70ac0a8c5&e=faeada51fb), conducted August 17-18, shows Paul only 2 points behind Obama in a general election match-up. In a similar head to head survey from last year done by Rasmussen (http://iowaforronpaul.us2.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=af10358490fc15b52a962f667&id=326df36bb9&e=faeada51fb), Paul actually drew a statistical dead heat with the President. And earlier this year in a survey by CNN (http://iowaforronpaul.us2.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=af10358490fc15b52a962f667&id=9ef6facf36&e=faeada51fb), he did the best out of the other Republicans put up against Obama in a head-to-head poll.

This should not be surprising since the last Gallup poll had Ron in 3rd place with 14%. Interesting that Mittens is plummeting.
