Schedule local meetings with a reading from the book - one particular issue. Place ads in local newspapers so they will be more inclined to cover the event(s). Then sell the books in situ either directly or by pushing online sales with 3-5 people's laptops at the events. The book not only disseminates the ideas but provides a reason for the meeting, a focus for the discussion. This raises the intelligence bar for the campaign rather than just getting together to ra-ra without any direction. It also allows people to come in and 'browse' the campaign and its message.

It is also not expensive nor difficult to organise. (Relatively speaking!)

PS Local libraries are great places for such meetings - assuming it is allowed in US...
