I think everyone should be allowed to participate, but I won't lie-I won't mind seeing less RINO's.

Could be that he snubbed Santorum because of the way he snarked at Ron Paul. Reading the article, it almost seems that DeMint chose the date based on Paul's schedule.

They set the 5% criteria long ago, and the candidates not invited did not meet the criteria. Simple.

Romney turned down the invitation due to scheduling conflicts even though this event was planned at least a month ago.

Looks like the field will be:

Bachmann
Cain
Gingrich
Paul
Perry

The only other candidates invited, Palin and Giuliani, have until 5pm today to accept the invitation.

Does Gingrich meet it?

The numbers haven't changed since Aug 22, which was the deadline to meet the 5% criteria.

Was not aware of this, but it's good news for Ron Paul.

A Demint endorsement would be huge.

I guess the criteria is anyone polling above 5% on the RCP average, although it is stated that it is only presidential candidates. Palin and Giuliani are both above 5% on RCP.

I really do hope for a DeMint endorsement after the forum, it would be huge.

FYI: Circa last September there was a rally in Northern Kentucky with Ron and Rand Paul along with Jim DeMint there. IIRC he said some complimentary things about Ron prefaced w the statement that he used to think that Ron was way out there.

Anyone have the feeling that 2-3 of the RCP polling agencies are influenced by the establishment to keep Ron below 10%? It sure seems this is the case, with the recent CNN and other poll that had him at 6%

I've always thought that...FOX is always lower than the rest...and we know that FOX has been very hostile towards Paul even if Cavuto is sympathetic to some of Ron's ideas.
