My god it's like listening to old Jewish retirees arguing about what type of deli meat should be on their sandwich.

Eleanor won't sell out the government handouts to save lives in the Middle East. Real nice.

Buchanan at 2:49 He's gonna cut the defense budget...

That's the wrong word to use. It's cutting military spending as opposed to actual defense.

Ughh, so much wrong in this video...

Sound principles of capitalism produced a depression?

The fake rage and evoking of the founding fathers is lame.

There's a lot of work to do. I'm afraid 99% won't wake up until they get hit over the head with an economic 2 X 4 of truth. And even then, 75% will scream for someone to help them instead of becoming more self reliant. The free market caused the great depression? What about the federal reserve blowing the bubble? Free market medical care wasn't working? How about Fascist medical care wasn't working.

Did anybody else get the impression that Buchanan was actually excited about Dr. Paul's chances this time around? I got an impression that I haven't seen him give before.

Huh, I never really knew what that meant.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_gadfly

A gadfly is a person who upsets the status quo by posing upsetting or novel questions, or just being an irritant. The term has been used to describe many politicians and social commentators.[citation needed]

The term "gadfly" (Ancient Greek: μυω̃ψ, myops)[1] was used by Plato in the Apology[2] to describe Socrates' relationship of uncomfortable goad to the Athenian political scene, which he compared to a slow and dimwitted horse. During his defense when on trial for his life, Socrates, according to Plato's writings, pointed out that dissent, like the gadfly, was easy to swat, but the cost to society of silencing individuals who were irritating could be very high.

using the term gadfly is simply another way to say RON can't win but is shaping the debate a bit...that woman is a joke...they know what they are saying and I doubt they really believe it too...

Agreed. At the beginning of the discussion, McLaughlin said that Ron Paul Is getting media attention. == Comparatively speaking, that's just not true. Maybe this week he got a little bump because of Stewart's piece, but that'll be short-lived, I fear. Where are the NH reports on the big networks?

And the 'gadfly is a compliment'? Since when? Tim Carney, Washington Examiner, please.

Even Pat Buchanan disappoints. Perfect opportunity to give Paul some rep, but his praise was focused.

I hate to say it, but when the lady called the rest of them on if they'd really like to see the gov't cut, to a man none of them had the chutzpa to tell her "yes, cut my Medicaid for the sake of this nation and our future." Cowards.

If you listen closely you can hear Buchanan say he would. Wish he would have said it more emphatically.

^that's good to hear. He had the chance to really pump up Ron, though, and he wilted. When are some of these opinionators gonna man up and lay their cards on the table?

“The founding fathers did not envision a country where you had the right to be sick and go bankrupt. The health care intervention by the gov was a positive thing because the unfettered free market wasn’t working.” – Eleanor Clift / Newsweek

Unbelievable! The health care industry is one of the most fettered markets of all time. Off-hand, I can’t think of any that were/are more regulated. Well, OK, maybe nuclear energy.

I think Ron needs to win a primary state and shut their mouths, which is certainly possible.

Eleanor Clift from Newsweek is clearly a socialist Democrat and desparately want Ron to split the Republican vote. She kinda reminds me of Cliff Clavin from Cheers... she thinks she knows stuff, but just has her facts off just a bit everytime. When we see Newsweek launch their attack on Ron, that's when we know we are winning! Just wait for it.

Clift:
Oh hey Sammy, did you know that unfettered free markets caused the great depression? Yea, it was only through massive government intervention that FDR was able to solve what almost certainly would have been a multi-decade depression and return America is prosperity in just 10 short years. It's a well known fact that war is good for economies.

Sam:
Uh... uh... maybe you should lay off the beers for the night, eh Clifty?
