View Full Version : Holy **** --- The MB pledges SHOT WAY UP today! [Mod:people are gaming the counter]

RileyE104

Earlier today it was about 4,800 pledges with $295,000 in donations pledged.

As of now, there are over 6,000 pledges with about $860,000 in donations pledged!!!!
EDIT: ^ according to comments here, a possible ASSHOLE pledged $500,000 -- therefore if there is $360,000 pledged with over 6,000 people, that's about $60 per person, which is much more believable than $143.... Still good, but FUCK YOU whoever thought it would be funny to F the numbers up.

The facebook event has just under 5,000 attendees and almost 1,000 maybes.
Keep spreading the FB event!! http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=197265100335690

^ I even talked some people who have never donated before into doing so!

I think it was a joke. However we still have over 6000 pledges and 5000 people attending the facebook event. 24 hrs left to get the word out! I think we will hit 1.5 million no problem.

The pledge system should be hard capped at a $250.00 donation to prevent false pledges.

Reasoning? The amount of pledges for the previous money bombs that raised the amount your estimating were magnitudes more.

There are always more people who donate than pledge. The fact that the pledge number has been increasing so rapidly tells me the moneybomb is really getting out there. Ron Paul's donor base had to have expanded quite a bit because of Ames. And the official campaign has called this one. I think we are going to be pleasantly surprised at the turn out.

the campaign might have thought the average pledge amount is kind of low since most people aren't even checking which one they are donating, and do the default of 50. This way the campaign prevents folks from getting discouraged about high pledge amount and low average pledge amount.

Did we just get hit with another $100,00 pledge?

It's suddenly at $968k now.

EDIT:
The green slide rule also doesn't match percentage wise with the pledge amount. Top of the slide says $1.5 million yet the slide appears to be stuck near 18% when $968k is nearly 65%.

Even if you take out the "fake" 600,000 then the slide rule is still off. It should be really really close to the second tick if you do the math.

On a side note, only Ron Paul has supporters that will do this over pledges for a money bomb days away. Relax guys!

But no, it was a pretty crappy thing to do.....just saying. I'm pledging $76.76. Already cleared it with the wife!

Either something's wrong with the pledge ticker, or they did not plan on some joker putting in a ridiculous number onto the system. You can pretty much enter anything into "other".

Whoever is managing the pledge site should go into their pledge database and scan it for any pledges above 2,500 and immediately remove them, then update the ticker.

Last I checked, it was around $350,000 with around 6,000 pledges, which works to an average of about $60, which is still pretty high, in my opinion!

So I wouldn't put too much stock into the pledge ticker.

I agree. They gave us just enough time to start thinking about promoting the hell out of it. If Ron Paul doesn't mention it in an on-air interview TODAY or TOMORROW, then I share your hope for a successful fundraiser capping at 500k. I wouldn't be discouraged, that's a lot of money in a depression. Somewhat disappointed that Ron didn't mention the MB during yesterday's interview with Wolf Blitzer. It would have generated a ton of new donors.

They are taking advantage of the Iowa WIN and the "non-coverage" that followed it, including the Daily Show. We'll see how the pans out. I have good feelings about this, especially since so many people on Facebook have RSVP'd to the event.

There's no way. The money bomb that brought in 4 million on the 5th of November had in the neighborhood of 30,000 pledges. Honestly, if we want that kind of money, that's where we need to be on pledges. I do know that a lot of people quit pledging, but would still give because they didn't want their email addresses handed out like that, but to me looking at the pledge count was always the best indicator. Just like Dec. 16th money bomb had over 40,000 pledges. Of course that's when we had great looking websites promoting each money bomb with a good theme behind it.

I actually have to disagree... if you look back at the history of the moneybomb... Lyman days... it was a very effective tool for motivating the masses. It is inspirational anticipating the collective power of the grassroots. I have to agree that this is making us look more like a joke and it's actually pretty funny from an outsiders perspective. The campaign is trying to get it right - they just need to work on execution. I hope they clean this up quickly...

On a side note... for moneybombs in general, I'd say that the most effective time to host a moneybomb would be on a weekday when most people are in the office with ready access to the internet. Alot will go out of their way to check in on the weekend and donate but it's easier to track the buzz and participate when you just have it up in the backgroud all day (like I do the DOW ticker). Just a thought...
