let it go. even if by some miracle all 218 were found and they were all ron paul votes... do you honestly think the story would get covered? push harder going forward, don't get people stuck mucking around with last weeks news.

Expect it will happen again, and again, and again, and learn from what happened the last time in expectation that it happens again next time, and how we can prevent it.

It sucks if true but there needs to be one and only ONE goal for this grassroots and campaign... RAISE money for IOWA. Since 2008, I have done nothing with my free time other then woring within politics, on both sides. We lost Iowa because we didnt spend the money. Screw the idea of a national campaign. IF we arent "in" the race, then their is no point in gearing up to stay in it long term. We need top 3 in Iowa, or else were dead by NH. Iowa gives us the "electability" factor so that were taken seriously in NH. We have something a little different this year, with Nevada coming in just after NH. We came in second in Nevada (given, it was a far back 2nd) but that will be huge. If we can be top 3 in Iowa, top 3 in NH and top two in Nevada, then we do have a chance in South Carolina, which does have a bit of a love for independent people. W came in fifth there last time, but I expect the pack to be thinned quite a bit this time.
By super Tuesday, it will be all over with and if we want to have a prayer, it all comes down to Iowa. Ron needs about $8 million to spend on those two states alone and thats cutting it close.

Thanks for the links . . . heres another.

I think the virtual tie in Iowa, and Romney doing so poorly
with RP exceeding the heavily funded and favored Romney 2007 vote count,
is actually a perfect scenario,

We sit in great position for the caucus process . . .
with maybe Bachmann even gone by the Iowa caucus as everyone starts to see right through her.

Never has anyone who has won (if you call it that) an Iowa straw poll been so slammed, imho.

4823 – Michelle Bachmann
4671 – Ron Paul
2293 – Pawlenty
1657 – Santorum
1456 – Cain
718 – Perry
567 – Romney
385 – Gingrich
69 – Huntsman
35 – McCotter

Ok, so let’s add up the votes (4823 + 4671 + 2293 + 1657 + 1456 + 718 + 567 + 385 + 69 +35 = 16,674). But wait a minute, the total votes counted were 16,892 right? So, of the total votes counted in the Iowa Straw Poll amounting to 16,892. The ten candidates listed above garnered 16,674. Well that leaves 218 votes unaccounted for.
So where did the remaining 218 votes go?

The very next sentence answers the question:

MSNBC has reported that the 218 is actually only 162 votes that are a “scattering” of ballots for candidates receiving less than one percent of the votes. Ok, fine, so who are these candidates?

Who cares who they are? They're not Ron Paul. So it doesn't change the outcome.

Just more proof that we shouldn't leave these types of scenarios to chance. No more close margins...
