Thanks again for your great blog. I enjoy reading your daily adventures. And thanks also for posting updates on the forums because that helps remind me to visit ronpaulriders for the latest.

Are you planning to go to Clute, Texas? Is this new on the itinerary?

P.S. Today, at random, I saw a car drive by with a Ron Paul bumper sticker. It was wonderful to see! :D

Yes, seeing supporters in the wild is a great feeling. There are lots out there who have not heard of MeetUp yet. That is one reason it is so important to signwave, door knock, and generally just let them know they are not alone...

I'm really glad you enjoy the blog, it (and I), am a bit dysfunctional, (I'm an e-gnoramus, just kinda kludging away). It is great to have a way to share this journey. I am beginning to expand the net, (to cycling groups) and hopefully it will bring in a few more supporters. I, also, certainly owe it to those who support me, to let them know what kind of value they are getting for their hard-earned money.

Lake Jackson has always been on the Route. The posts in the forum are more just drafts and worksheets. We did alot of work on IM also. Please feel free to post in the "State" section with any info that will help increase the effectiveness of this journey. Even just philosophical musings help prepare me for the "climate" I will be immersed in.

I am behind schedule, may make it up in TX, may not. Losing my partner made alot of the "net" work much more difficult... I hope to update things as I get the opportunity but have to concentrate on many other issues as well.

If you are in Clute, then that makes me very happy as we will get to meet up in person.

busy busy

Oh, that was pretty much flatland compared to the mountains between CA and NM. Had been up, and down, and up, and down a few thousand feet for hundreds of miles. Good exercise I guess...

Just read your latest blog. Thanks for taking the extra time to keep us updated. You're doing great work! It's hard enough, I'm sure, to bike across the country, but to bike across the country and at the same time hand out literature, educate people, and spread the freedom message . . . amazing!

Do you have a link for the flyer the group made for you?

ronpaulhawaii
11-14-2007, 10:43 PM
Do you have a link for the flyer the group made for you?

No, they said they would post it, but are very busy and I'm not going to bother them for it. It's two-sided. The front has a logo and Damons "Saving America- One Mile at a Time" phrase (I would have preferred something a bit less... dramatic) on top. The next section says, "A two month journey From california to Wasgington DC on Bicycles? Yes, and in everytown along the way, the Ron Paul message of freedon, prosperity and peace will be the emphasis"

It then has a short blurb about me with a pic.

The main section of the front has a route/schedule and then it ends with a quote from Grover Cleveland that is on my site,

"A government for the people must depend for its success on the intelligence, the morality, the justice, and the interest of the people themselves"

On the bottom is a flag and link to my site

The other side is all Phoenix and they did great. The writer took bits from the video and the site and wrote,

So Why Would Anyone Make Such a Long Journey

The answer to that question is the same for the millions of Americans who are joining together throughout this nation. It is a HOPE for Freedom. A HOPE for the restoration and preservation of AMERICA. It is to spread this message of HOPE to everyone and to bring "We The People" back to our sense of our civic duties. To no longer vote for a "Lessor of Two Evils" because that would still be a vote for Evil. This is a journey, designed to inform the people of our country and the world that we will stand no longer for the injustice and corruption of our government.

It is to spread the message about our "Hope for America"
Congressman Ron Paul for President 2008

Next it has a big banner with a pic of RP and two lines beside,

"Remember the Constitution?"
"RON PAUL for President '08"

Below that is RP's Brief Overview, followed by my logo and then a link to HQ.

I really like most of it. When I hand it to people and they start to read the front I just tell them, "No, that's just about me, turn it over, Thats the guy you want to find out about. That website right down there, find out for yourself, you'll be amazed, then please join us, its pure grassroots..."

Thanks for asking, sorry no decent pics today, it was real crappy weather

From RPR blog:

Had a great day for RP yesterday. Talked to a Sheriff for quite a while. A bunch of folk where I stopped for some coffee. One old cowboy responded to my “honest politician” line with, “we have an honest president from right here in Texas!". OooKaaayyy… I answered, “Yes sir, but he is on his last term” (I know better than to argue some points in soem situations) He then said, “I’m thinking about that Rudy fellah". I answered, “That New York Gun Grabber? Why don’t you take a good look at this here Texan who is a STRONG supporter of the 2nd ammendment, strong on morals, and strong on the proper defense of this country". He said, “He’s from Texas, let me look at that stuff” He left saying, “This boy looks pretty good, thanks boy”

My husband and I were laughing for several minutes over this story.

We love your blog and are so grateful for all that you do.

What an awesome experience. Certainly makes all those miles and hills worth it. The newspaper interview was great. To say I am proud of you and your handling of all of this doesn't begin to express my feelings. How I wish Dad were here to experience this with you. I know how proud he would be.

Michael, you of all people deserve recognition from the man himself and it's fantastic that you two got to share a ride.

Way to go. I'm sure Dr Paul will be there when you roll into DC at the triumphant end of your journey. Although you may have to ride over to his office.

"What I would like to say to the grassroots is; Thank You for all of you efforts, because everything you do is a great encouragement to me. And when I know that there are so many people involved in this effort, to promote individual freedom and restore the constitution, it's the most exciting thing and I get energy from it and all I can say is, Thank you very much" - Dr. Ron Paul

Already to Mississippi! WOW! :) Well I guess Texas just seemed to take forever! Its really a humbling experience to see the hurricane damage in person isnt it? When people who live in these Hurricane zones are supporting Ron Paul that tells you FEMA isnt right and this big monstrous government doesnt help either! Great pics. Stay safe!!!!!!!!

Yes, it is strange to pass through a state quickly after being in Texas so long. I'll be out of Mississippi today. Alabama will take a while because I'm finally turning north for the last time. The FEMA thing helps us because people see first hand the waste and inefficiency of big gov't. It is quite sad to know all those millions are getting siphoned and wasted while real people are struggling.

Thanks, We may be able to up the tech aspect in a week or so when the "chuck-wagon" arrives. When we started planning this in Aug we hoped to go live but cat-herding issues prevented it. Someone offered a sprint-card that never materialized, Justin never answered the e-mails, and I had more pressing expenses. Perhaps someone, (not you Robin, you have enough on your plate ;)) could help organize that for the last week or so??? I'm gonna try to get the sprint-card cat to come through anyway so we can keep the "chuck-wagon" on-line while I pedal. Someone would need to try Justin again and people will have to provide the wireless cam/spare batt. With the ground support this will all be MUCH easier.

edit- just got and tested a simple justin.tv broadcast. It worked, but still not feasible yet

Wow an albino ferret. There are few cooler things.

Thats "Mikki Da Fewwit" posing for Mike. He's an albino deaf 'rescued ferret' that we got this past summer.

It was great having you visit for the day Mike, and if your looking for your Zicam it was left behind here, and Kelley is currently using it to fight of a flu that she somehow caught this weekend :D

Luckily I have a fast metabolism, I woke up this morning feeling like crap, threw up once, napped for about 8 hours and now feel fine (well fineish) again. A very small sacrifice for being able to assist on your journey to DC.

Stay strong, and I'll see you at the big party in DC on January 20, 09.
