I thought for a while the problems with the main site are resolved... But lately I see from time to time the site choking up. Are we going to have problems on Monday? Should they kill that live update and maybe put up something simple like a graph (as in http://ronpaulgraphs.com/)?

Should be test this site on one of this days just to get some sense of what could happened?

In any case, I am very excited to get to the big day, and I hope the site takes it like a champ.

Good luck to all of us!

Just don't all do it at the same time and crash the server.

Hopefully people start donating in the early AM, to spread the load.

Hmm, maybe the guy who runs the November 5th website can send an email out with instructions on when to donate based on last name.

Last Name begins with:

A-E - 10AM-11AM CST
F-J - 11AM-12PM CST
K-O 1PM-2PM CST
P-T 2PM-3PM CST
U-Z 3PM-4PM CST

Or something like that...

EDIT: I emailed Trevor about this, so we'll see what happens.

That's a good idea, but the way the internet works it would be better if split by region. Like East coast from 12am until 10am, South West 9am until 3 pm, Central States 1pm until 7pm, West Coast 5-pm till midnight.

i was thinking the samething...

as a IT professional, I know all about the risk of having heavy traffic on a webserver and annoucning big plans. I just hope that

- the web server can handle the traffic
- no crashes
- the merchant account dont fuck us over
- no hacks
- and I hope its updating REALTIME - I think that may inspire some borderline voters to possibly come to the greener side and donate a buck or 2

3~5 AM EST is likely the lowest traffic time for the site. But 12:01 AM works too! :)

I am donating around 12 AM. I will first watch in awe as the live ticker skyrockets upward.

When does November 5th begin and end - as far as donations being counted on November 5th? Is the time based upon some time zone (EST, EDT, PST, etc) --- or the time zone of the contributor?

For me especially this matters, since I am in Hawaii (time is 6 hours earlier here than eastern time --- ehhh, but maybe only 5 hours earlier on November 5th?).

hey I posted about this weeks ago, you guys went ahead with this idea even though the main resource has not been fixed by the campaign (which btw is pathetic a server move is very easy).

Use the Firefox plugin to remove strain?

We all want to watch the numbers climb but we also don't want to crash the campaign site, right? Simple - download this tiny desktop widget: http://rp.gibwo.com/ and keep up to the minute with the donation total without going to the campaign site.

It's working well for me so far and it's more fun than the graphs for just watching the donation explosions happen. :)

I'm afraid of a huge spike right after midnight. Better to spread it out between 2 AM and 6 AM EST, which are usually the slowest hours.

Setting up a schedule by last name would help, too.

I just wanted to let everyone know that there is a number to call and make your donations just in case the server goes doen at the official website:

There is a chance that the servers will be overwhelmed by the
tremendous amount of online traffic. In that instance you can also donate by
calling:

1-877-RON-2008 or 1-877-766-2008

And 800-RON-PAUL too, I believe
