That was a stupid question about dropping out. He's been working since February, has more money than he's ever had and more press than he's ever had, so why would he drop out two months (possibly less) before the first primary? Why would anyone with millions in the bank drop out because early 'scientific' polls don't place you in the clear lead?

It's the kind of question to ask him after the first couple primaries, or even after Super Tuesday, if he hasn't done well in actual votes.

It seems that the establishment media likes this catch 22 they've put Paul in. They stress his low poll numbers first and foremost so people they poll don't take him seriously, and because people they poll don't take him seriously his poll numbers stay low.

Paul needs to point out how the samples in these polls are crap, and how the prediction markets have him in third place.

This is dead on!

What they showed wasn't a full interview either. Highly edited and abbreviated, virtually bringing him in and cutting him off mid-phrase a couple times. I believe this made him seem less natural and appealing, especially in the social security answer.

The flake thing was ad hominem to the hilt. His comeback was great, but you could tell that even he was shocked at the plain lack of decorum.

Well without the name calling I agree with this exactly. That was fantastic television exposure! We'll take it.

And as far as all the editing goes, calm down just a bit. Has it ever occured to people that it may also be the case they edited together the better stuff? And once again lets not be hypocritical about this editing issue. Because our foavorite RP videos do this all the time! For example, the " A NEW Hope" video uses liberally edited segments from different parts of multiple debates to make it look like one sequence. Complete with cut-and-pasted clip of Rudy's expression as Ron talks.

We can't have it both ways. We really need to enjoy ourselves more when Ron gets good TV exposure like this! It was very beneficial to this campaign and we are not even enjoying the moment.

I second that. You can’t call something a hit piece when it is an actual interview with Paul. The piece on Tucker now that was a hit piece because it had no substance- all it had was childish name calling. We need to realize that sometimes interviewers ask tough questions. The flakey one was a bit abrupt but I am glad she asked it because Paul knocked the answer out of the park. :)

this cnn interview was designed to make ron paul look like he was not doing well in popularity but as usual Ron Paul defended his views very effectively and admirably and outshined the obrien's cynacism.

yeah. I wonder why they even bother interviewing him if they can't do better than that!
I mean...not that I don't like the exposure or anything (I hope this interview attracted some new people)...but what kind of lame-ass news show would interview a candidate who is tied for dead last?!?! (;)) Why have him on at all if they're just going to belittle him and try to make it sound like he's some flaky kook who has no chance of winning--a born loser and loon?!
I imagine when they invite Dr. Paul to interviews like that they do so very begrudgingly.

That must mean that we're doing better than I allow myself to hope. If they don't want to have him on, but feel obligated to do so anyway, we must be winning against their tactics. :D
That's good news.

Notice how poor the lighting on Dr. Paul was done? The chick has nice warm lighting. Those crap weasels at CNN use all the tricks.

Let's put a positive spin on this. Maybe her idiocy combined with Ron Paul's brilliance will wake some people up to the media bias and get people to realize that it is the media who is creating this "fringe" myth.

He handled it well, and the media is just explosing themselves as the manipulative schmucks they are.

The fact is, the corporate media is so horrible at "journalism" that they somehow even manage to make Ron Paul look less than wonderful.
He’s too intelligent for them. He has all of the answers, but they react to truth like Dracula reacts to garlic...or something.

Dr. Paul did a wonderful job, and no matter how they may have tried to cut it, light it, or anything else his message rang through loud and clear. He got to say more in that one piece than he has been able to get out in all the debates.

He made me proud. He does look a little tired. I hope he gets some good rest soon.

Exactly. While his responses were good, I don't understand how some people do not see this as a hit piece. I mean she repeated on two different occasions that he was tied for dead last. In other words, "Nothing to see here people." Seriously, if they were fair, wouldn't they quickly point out that he also wins most "active" polls.

WOW, Iran makes BIG bullets :D

I hope people can see thro the propaganda. Showing the "evil terrorist iran with madmen wielding weapons" footage whenever they get the chance is really pathetic.Anyone who gets taken in by this is equally pathetic.

In the end she had to admit that he has raised alot of money and his supporters are showing up at events. I almost expected her to say "he's cathing on....."
:D

Its really getting better...he knows it, and his answers prove it.

It seems like the attack on Ron now is that he's weak on Iran. He has to counter this by saying Iran is the next Iraq and we all know how well that's going.

Dude...........

I spend 2-4 hours everyday reading EVERY article on Ron Paul. I have NEVER seen an article where Ron Paul has been called "flaky."

That was a flat out lie when she said "there are articles on the Internet where they consistently call you flaky."

I was just gonna write something EXACTLY like this..

They must have got it from here:

June 14, 2007
Paul appeared as a featured speaker at the opening reception of the National Taxpayers Union Annual Conference in Washington, DC, as a featured speaker along with Congressman Jeff Flake and fellow Republican presidential candidate, former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore

Are you guys kidding me? That interview was Ron Paul at his finest.

Soledad: You're last in the polls. When will you drop out?

Ron Paul: We're gaining supporters and raising funds like crazy. The support is 100 times greater than it was earlier in the year. We'll surprise people in the primaries.

Soledad: You're a kooky libertarian who wants to eliminate Social Security. After you drop out because of your poll standing, do you think Mitt will adopt that position?

Ron Paul: I'm the only guy in Washington who's never spent any of the Social Security trust fund and the only candidate who will set us on a path to financial solvency so people dependent on Social Security can be taken care of.

Soledad: Since you're last in the polls and kooky and have no chance, who will you support when you drop out?

Ron Paul: I'll support the first candidate who endorses a non-interventionist foreign policy, sound money, and cutting spending, balancing the budget, and paying down the national debt. In other words, I'm the only hope for America so I'll be voting for myself.

Soledad: People call you kooky (not me, you understand). What's it like to have people realize that you're kooky and call you kooky in print when you have no chance to win since you're dead last in the polls?

Ron Paul: I think people who print money out of thin air and expect the dollar not to lose value are the kooky ones. I think people who think we can afford to run an empire are kooky. I think people who disregard the wisdom of the Founders and rack up nine trillion dollars in debt are kooky.

Soledad: You've just made me look like a complete fool, haven't you?

Ron Paul: I'm surprised you figured that out. You're in good company, though -- check out some of my interviews from Fox News on YouTube.... (chuckles warmly.)

It seems to me Congressman Paul was only asked once about his numbers. The whole he's 'polling dead last in the polls' seems to have been emphasized more after they edited the interview ...giving him no chance to point out that the pool of voters called is limited (6% of the Republicans --- those who voted in the primaries in 2004 if I'm not mistaken), sometimes his name isn't even included in the polls, or even to say that he's placed high in many of the straw polls around the country.

No, I was paraphrasing, and dramatizing a little, but you get the basic idea.
