We need some comment on this article, I think we need to get over there and give our support to this sentiment.

Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK), who is both a strong pro-lifer and a vociferous deficit hawk, said yesterday that the budget is in fact the more pressing issue — and he has a rather novel rationale.

"The greatest moral issue of our time isn't abortion, it's robbing our next generation of opportunity," Coburn said at the National Press Club. "You're going to save a child from being aborted so they can be born into a debtor's prison?"

I posted the same thing over in general politics.

I'm shocked he went on the record saying this. Is this guy pro-war?

It's unfortunate that we have come to the point where 'greatest moral issues' are piling up like crazy.

Good thing Ron Paul will help with both those issues for those concerned. (NOT meant to be a debate)

I guess that might be true--for those of us already born! ;)

In terms of his voting record, yes.
Maybe he would come around? I wouldn't hold my breath though.

I think most people, if they had choice, would like to live instead of being aborted even if their life isn't perfect.

I called Tom and told him to support Ron Paul's campaign.

They agree on a lot of things, but preemptive war and nation building is a big disagreement. Tom has always been far more of a theocrat than Ron too. I am glad that this seems to be softening in that he finds economic issues to be a far bigger threat to us. I just wish someone could convince him that the war is the biggest single component of the deficit.

Before I knew Dr. Paul, being from Oklahoma, I knew another "Dr. No." That would be Dr. Coburn, also an osbstetrician.

Here's an pretty good article about Oklahoma's "Dr. No" by George Will...
