Now that the Ames Straw Poll is over, we can focus our efforts on additional states. Some have suggested New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada, which certainly deserve attention, but I would like to focus on Washington and Wyoming.

I do not live in Washington or Wyoming and all information was gathered through my own research. If any information is wrong, please let me know and I will correct it.

Why Washington and Wyoming? We can get delegates NOW.
In order for Ron Paul to become the Republican nominee for President, he needs to capture 1,212 delegate votes at the Republican National Convention (“RNC”) in August 2012. Each state, through a primary or caucus, has their own method of allocating delegates to the RNC.

WA and WY’s caucus process allows us to immediately fill current vacant delegate positions that have significant influence in determining the states’ eventual delegates to the RNC. These are the only two states that I know of that can guarantee influential delegate positions today. Other states require you to be elected as a delegate in 2012.

What needs to be done
In order to become a delegate, all you have to do is ask! If there is a vacant position for a precinct leader (Precinct Committee Officer in WA or Precinct Committeeman/woman in WY) and you request to become one from your County Republican Party, they will appoint you to that position. It really is that easy and does not cost anything. By becoming a precinct leader, you are an automatic delegate at the county convention. More detailed instructions can be found below.

Detailed Information
For detailed information about the caucus process and how to become a precinct leader, check out the threads in the State subforums here: Washington (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?308955-Washington%E2%80%99s-Caucus-and-Delegate-Selection-Process-Explained) and Wyoming (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?308956-Wyoming%E2%80%99s-Caucus-and-Delegate-Selection-Process-Explained)

Action Plan
We need to get all Ron Paul supporters in Washington and Wyoming to become precinct leaders so that they are automatic delegates at their county conventions. In Wyoming’s case, if you are a delegate at the county convention, you will be voting for delegates to send directly to the RNC. This is as important as it gets.

This is where I need help. We need to get the word out to all the Ron Paul Meetup and Facebook groups and all known RP supporters in those states. It is important that we only find supporters who will definitely support RP. If they become a delegate and change their support for another candidate, we will have wasted a delegate position.

I also have information of people who contributed to Ron Paul's Presidential campaign and Liberty PAC.

I have not begun contacting anyone in Washington or Wyoming. If someone would like to take the lead or have ideas on how to contact these supporters, please let me know.

I used to be a PCO in WA. But I can't stomach associating with my county republican party anymore. It makes me physically ill to hear them express their undying love for endless war and supplication to israel. I'm the only veteran I know that has ever participated in Iraq/Afghanistan and has bothered to attend meetings. But will they listen to my first hand experience... HELL NO. They'd rather believe Dick Cheney.

As a PCO, do you have to attend the county meetings? Can you become a PCO and only participate during the caucuses?

Yeah, thats why i don't associate. My IQ is low enough already. I like being where i'm at right now. Under the radar....waiting to pounce. There are more of us now than they realize. We had some leaders of the local county party show up at one of our Liberty/Ron Paul meetings awhile back, and the ex-chair actually got up and said she was a Constitutional Conservative...yeah, riiight...i gave her a big smile and shook my head. These people are either terminally ignorant or they are permanently evil. Or both.

OK, as this is the first time i will be going through this process of a caucus, i will be getting more info this wednesday from people i trust. Truthfully, i haven't looked into it yet, and you are the first to post anything on this that i know of via the internet. I don't go to any GOP meetings, because i think they are a bunch of lying bastards anyway, so anything they have to say on this is useless to me.

I was a delegate from Snohomish county last time.... I'll be moving to PA now though... but some things to talk about in the meetup and organizing the caucus is this:

1. Make a slate for each congressional district
2. Pre-select the top choices- number them in order
3. Everyone should vote down the list (keep picking the person from the top down)
4. When someone is elected delegate, cross him out and next go around continue picking the person from top down...

This way you won't split up the vote... Also when they do a second round or more, make SURE they do not re-number the delegates... and know EXACTLY the 'number' for your delegates during that round.. Last time there was confusion since people got re-numbered and no one noticed and gave votes to the wrong person in second and third rounds.

This should help avoid breaking up the vote, and increase the chances...

BTW Spokane county was AWESOME...I can't believe we basically got all the delegates in that county, or pretty much a good majority. Way to go :)

@hellsingfan

Thanks for the tips. Your tips are how to elect delegates during the Precinct Caucuses, which is just as important, but the point of my post is that you can skip the election and become a delegate NOW by becoming a Precinct Committee Officer (PCO) in Washington. If you become a PCO, its like you won the election. This is why it's important because we can guarantee county level delegates NOW. The best thing is that to become a PCO, all you have to do is ask your County Republican Party!

Many counties in Washington have over 50% vacancies for PCOs. We need to get the word out to Washington RP supporters to become PCOs today before someone else who supports another candidate takes the only PCO position in their precinct.

Please read this to see why this is so important:

In 2008, Wyoming held county conventions to elect Delegates to the Republican National Convention. In the county convention, only about 1,250 were entitled to vote for Delegates. Of those 1,250, only 250 were elected by Republican voters statewide. The other 1,000 entitled to vote are Precinct Committeemen (PC). This means that the entire state of Wyoming has a 20% influence on the election while a select 1,000 people hold 80% influence!

We need RP supporters to become a part of those select 1,000 voters by becoming PCs in Wyoming. They can become PCs today by simply ASKING their County Republican Party! If there is a vacancy and you ask your County Party for the position, it is yours.

From my research, about 20% of the PC positions are vacant. We need to fill these positions now before other candidates' supporters fill them.

I need ideas on how we can contact supporters in Wyoming. Should we do a robocall?

this is a great site to familiarize newbies to the delegate process at caucus, and state assembly!
