Compare the way the Ames straw Poll winners were announced in 2007, to the way the announcement is made in 2011.

In 2007, every candidate is named along with vote totals. They start by naming the person with the lowest number of votes, and progress up to the winner. As each candidate is named, the number of votes, and the percentage of the total votes they received, are shown on a large screen. There is ample time for supporters to cheer their candidate between each announcement.

Last night, here's how Matt Strawn, Iowa Republican Party Chairman, makes the announcement.

"With 16,892 Iowans voting, the winner of the 2011 Iowa straw poll is congresswoman Michele Bachman. Thank you everyone and have a good night!" (turns his back and leaves)

Can anyone explain why they never show a graphic for Ron Paul or Bachman?
We see; Pawlenty 2293, Santorum 1657, Cain 1456, Romney 567, Gingrich 385, Huntsman 69, McCotter 35 and then the sequence is repeated. Is this just the way it's edited, or did they intentionally omit them?

And what is "scattering" with 162 votes? Is that supposed to be odd write-ins, or votes they decided to omit for one reason or another? It would be interesting to hear the story behind the "scattered" votes, since if they had "scattered" in our direction, Paul would've won. Are the disqualified votes?

update - found another video that does (eventually) include graphics for both Paul and Bachman.

update - in addition to the 162 "scattering votes" there are 56 "remainder" votes.
See chart http://www.dailypaul.com/173497/c-span-live-coverage-of-ames-straw-poll-begins-today-1130-am
That's a total of 218 votes that were cast, but not attributed to any candidate.

If Ron had won the straw poll, they would've just announced candidates 2-9 and not even mentioned Ron.

Something is wrong.

The Straw Poll Was Probably Stolen From Ron Paul
Posted on August 14, 2011 by Lew Rockwell
I have it from a very good source that virtually all the people involved in Ron's Iowa campaign, and who had worked for other candidates in previous straw polls, believe that Ron actually won, but the GOP establishment fixed the results to give it to the warmonger Bachmann. To the extent the media suspected this, they cheered.

Really? If that's true, then we can expect dirty play at the actual caucus.

Suggestion to the OP: Find the C-Span footage of the 2007 winners announcement, and use it for contrast.

Wait, was the video silenced after he announced the results? Is that just my computer, or was that actually silenced? Because right after, Ron Paul supporters began screaming his name -- I know that for a fact. Was it seriously silenced?
