From Twitter:

I reckon Rick Santorum edges out Thad McCotter for the dedicated slot Pawlenty had in all our GOP primary polling

I hope it is just a joke.

PPP is looking for any excuse not to poll Ron against Obama, because Ron blows Obama away. PPP is a partisan Dem polling company. They will articulate something, but the excuse they use is that we spam them in emails when they ASKED for comments, so they are just not doing it. It creates an unfortunate meme countering the developing one of Ron being in the top tier, however, these PPP polls are free and they do them just for 'advertising' of their capacity so they don't want to damage Obama, and don't want to cover Ron more than they have to -- and certainly not head to head with Obama.

Ron may eventually have to run a poll of his own, but for right now we have independent polls showing his strength against Obama.

And Santorum will be down near the bottom against Obama, so it isn't exactly going to prop him up.

You mean Frothy hasn't dropped out yet?

He is claiming Ames as a surge.

Darn. I would've rather seen Cain and Gingrich overtake Santorum so his exit would be a speedy one.

Wasn't Pawlenty polling at 2%?

How is it a surge when the person who beat you decided to drop out?!

I don't get it... What's the big deal? Isn't this good for us to have him in the polls, since he'd draw away support from the rest of the candidates?

You mean Frothy hasn't dropped out yet?

Why would he. He was top 3 at Ames. "Top 3 have a shot," and he's there!

The dedicated slot pawlenty had was one where PPP constantly polls pawlenty against obama. They only do that with some candidates they consider top tier, never Ron Paul. Now they are just going to take Rick Santorum over Paul

I documented it here a month ago or so: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?302388-PPP-polling-against-obama

yes, but PPP would still include him in general election polling, and exclude Ron.

Are you sure this is general election polling and not primary polling? As in Santorum will be included as an option (Press 1 for Bachmann, 2 for Paul, 3 for Romney, 4 for Santorum, etc.)

Exactly. Santorum was not included in any of the state primary polls and now he will take Pawlenty's place. PPP had already stopped polling Pawlenty against Obama so they are not going to start polling Santorum against Obama.

Oh. Well in that case I feel silly and will apologize as soon as PPP puts Ron in the head to head polls against Obama.

Thanks for clarifying it!
