At first I was somewhat disappointed but cheered up a bit when I noticed just how close we came. Today was good day, I can't wait to see O'Reilly spin this on Monday.

when you are considered the red headed step child when it comes to fitting in the status quo family, 2nd place is a great place to be!! i hope this will be a driving factor behind the grassroots movement. i am excited!!

freedom is popular!

I'm cheering! This is exactly where we want to be! Less than 1% difference from 1st to 2nd? Awesome!! Cheers!!!

Either Bachmann's victory was meaningless (and considering how much of it was due not to her but to Randy Travis--well, never mind) or our razor thin margin was meaningful. The press cannot have it both ways.

God was good to us today.

A win would have been awesome but I will take a statistical tie over a long 2nd.

Like i said a win by one would have been beast yet this is good and i say we play the hand we have.

I'm quite happy. Just landed in Munich. First thing I did was find a hotspot to find out the results. Looks like that prime real estate at the poll paid off.

Incidentally what do you think is going to happen in Iowa if/when Bachman drops out?

I admit I let myself feel like we might have first, but for the reasons mentioned I am very happy with such a close 2nd. I'm even more amazed that, however briefly, we seem to be getting some decent respect and media coverage out of it. Definitely money and effort well worth expending. I do feel a little guilty though... had we all worked a little hard, donated a little more, or faced our fears a bit more.... we probably would have pulled off the upset of the decade. But the opportunity to pull off the upset of the CENTURY lies ahead... let's get it!!!!

How could I have forgot that piece of wisdom that ruled my year in 2nd grade?

I'm no expert on politics. But I would guess that Bachman's supporters will split with those looking for a real Christian to support going with Ron Paul and the rest going with Perry because he looks good, talks tough, and is willing to kill people who disagree with us.

Absolutely! Didn't the campaign even say that they were hoping for a top three finish? Well they got what they hoped for. I am sure that the campaign thought that they could potentially win the poll, but that they knew a second, a very close second, was probably what was going to happen. Paul will win Iowa.

We need to stop acting like we are underdogs. If we want to win, we had better win 1st place. Considering all the experience around Ron Paul Forums and the campaign, we should have won hands down.

Michele was focused and the Ron Paul campaign did not go all out to win. To lose by less than 200 votes is very bad.

So why the hell didn't you hire Garth Brooks to entertain in the Paul tent after the vote?

Come on, fess up. You personally bear the whole responsibility. You could have beaten Randy Travis single-handed, but didn't. Shame on you.

Your absolutely correct. Less than 1% difference is a statistical tie. The GOP machine I think is our biggest problem. Clearly we can beat Obama on the issues, it's convincing the GOP establishment that we can.

I plead guilty.

I had Alison Krauss and Union Station all lined up, but diverted them to my palatial lakeside estate to do a private show for friends and family instead.

Yup, that ^^^

The biggest hurdle is convincing the hidebound GOP of this.

Course, deep down, they don't want freedom any more than the democrat machine wants it.

Freedom is a threat to each wing of the duopoly.

War and Socialism or:
Socialism and War.

Those must forever be your "choices".
