This is disgusting. I usually thought I could depend on C-Span for fair reporting, but they seem to ignore the fact Ron Paul got 2nd place. I keep hearing them display/talk about every other candidate int he straw poll BESIDES Ron Paul.

Paul's second place finish is at the top of Drudge. So its not a total blackout.

Drudge has a "runner up" statement for him....

I don't care about Drudge. I shouldn't have to dig for how many votes he got from fucking C-SPAN. The announcement was handled poorly as well. They just simply state Bachmann wins and walks off stage? What the hell?

I saw them show him at 26% on CSPAN, in 2nd, so not sure what you mean.

why should people be falling all over themselves to report on who came in second? You want attention you get first outside of that you will get treated as a loser.

Alright, time to move on. We placed a VERY close second to a person born in Iowa...this wasn't exactly unexpected. Either way, we did GREAT and this really puts the heat on many of them to drop out. The good news is that Perry and Bachman will be splitting each other's votes from here on out. Perry will also be taking many from Romney, and now Romney will actually have to stick his neck out and compete against perry. That puts Ron Paul's 27% of "100% sure" supporters very much in play. That means from this point forward, we will have a majority of solid supporters.

I can't wait for the next straw polls.

Huckabee won Iowa after placing 2nd.

CNN headline:

BachmaNn wins straw poll, narrowly besting Paul

I think the coverage is fair. If Paul would gave won, they would say it's insignificant (the straw poll). If he was way behind in votes (second or otherwise) he would be dismissed too. This is actually a very good (not the best in my opinion) result. They can't dismiss the significance of the poll since their media darling won; they can't dismiss Ron Paul because he almost beat her.

Foxnews.com has a decent enough writeup http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/08/13/finally-here-ames-straw-poll-first-test-2012/

Bachmann received 28 percent of the vote. Texas Rep. Ron Paul was a close second with 27 percent
Paul has had the most devout and loyal following at the event this year. He got the surprise showing he was looking for in hopes that it would convince Republicans that he was more mainstream than not in his second shot at the GOP nomination.

There will be more probing analysis of Bachman's win in the coming days. Some political writers will be asking why she did not place farther ahead of a "fringe" candidate.

There was some of that in 2007 with Romney's win. It was not the blowout expected for a candidate investing as heavily as he did.

If you're expecting the MSM to play even remotely fair, than you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

Traditionally, they name the winner and the number of votes...for ALL those in the competition.

Actually that headline matches the speculation I was just offing on another thread. The developing story may be that T-Paw is wounded because his 3rd place was not even "close". The press will be asking him if he's staying in the race. Not where you want to be in a campaign cycle!
