This was targeted at NH citizens both Republican and Independents.

Literally every person I got into discussions with who were voting in the Republican Primary were very moderate. One literally told me you have to be moderate...can't be extreme.

I told one old lady about how Rick Perry (who she supported) was Al Gore's chairman and then she went off on global warming. Clearly I made a mistake there lol.

Then another old women who claimed to be voting in the Republican primary (I forget who she supported) was talking to me about how great Roosevelt's CCC program was lol.

Maybe I was just hitting a lot of independents. I don't know. Got a good amount of undecideds though. The rest were Mitt Romney and Rick Perry.

Good for you on doing the phone banking. Anyway, Ron is actually the most moderate candidate - the extremists are those who think we can have an unlimited warfare state and maintain approximately the current welfare state without bankrupting the country and taxing the hell out of future generations. They complain about extremists who want to "kick granny to the curb" (which Ron is not proposing) but think nothing of "putting junior in shackles".

The way I look at it is:

Anarchy--------Libertarianism---------Conservative----------Moderate-----------Liberal-----------Socialist----------Communist

So for me moderate is really nothing more than a Neoconservative. It's my understanding that it was liberals during the cold war the were upset at our lack of warhawkishness that they converted to Republicanism to change that from the inside out...thus the Neocon was born. I think the big deception is that liberalism is anti-war when historically that's not true and of course during present day. So I stay as far away from the liberal line as possible for obvious reasons. I'm not moderate.

The Terms of Left and Right definitely need to be defined better. I'd like the Proper Limitation of Government video again but I'm being lazy, and I dont know if it would help in talking to people. At least you're doing something.

If you believe that people should be left alone to make their own choices, regardless of what they are, I think you are more moderate than you believe. I have no objections with taking a Hard Line approach to defending your rights, we are being backed against a cliff and keep drawing that line we dare them to cross further and further back. It doesnt take much to push anyone one out of The Moderate Zone, since it is about two miles in the other direction that we are all being pushed away from.

On the far left is total government and on the far right is no government, or anarchy. Thus, Communism, Socialism, Fascism (National Socialism), and Neoconservatism are all on the left side of the spectrum.

Easy fix...

"Washington's become too extreme. Ron Paul wants to END the extremism that's killing our country!"

They don't get to define what "extreme" is. Extreme is the spending we've been doing. Extreme is the countless wars we've been engaging in. People have been conditioned to think that anyone who opposes that is extreme. Turn it around and I've found they begin to wake up. It won't happen on one call, but if they start to question - in their own minds - what extreme really means, we're on our way to winning them over.

The closer you get to Massachusetts, the more liberal they are going to be. A number of Massachusetts folks moved to NH to get away from the taxes and drive in to work in Massachusetts.

Similarly, on the other side of the country, the closer to California you get, the more liberal the mentality becomes.

---

Now, in terms of Left and Right, if the Extreme of Government is found on the left, and the less and less Government we have is towards the Right, where does the term "Liberal" actually fall in that scale? To me, this confuses the definition of left and right and I'd appreciate this being more clearly defined, Left and Right, and what the Terms are.

Is this the party to whom I am speaking?

Was talking politics last night with a conservative and a liberal. The liberal and I agreed on more than the conservative.

And I usually have more respect for actual communists than all of the rest because they actually have principles and a reason behind their beliefs. Not that I agree with their conclusion that you can change human nature gradually over generations, but at least they take a stand on issues based on an underlying belief.

"Independent" is simply a nice way of saying that someone is either an idiot, or doesn't have any sort of philosophy when it comes to politics (which still leaves the person an idiot considering how all of our lives touched by the delicate hands of tyrants). Damn right I'm extreme; I'm extremely pissed off and demand redress!

People think that being moderate is good because they are unable to think outside of the 1-dimensional left/right spectrum. There's so much more to politics and political positions than where on a left/right number line a particular person or policy belongs.

I think you're confusing "independent" and "moderate". I'm a proud independent! I don't know why anyone wants to be associated with either of these two parties. (except for this year when I'm attempting to help fix one of the parties so we, independents, have a fighting chance)

NH aint what it used to be.

The "Live Free or Die" State that picked Pat Buchanan over Bob Dole in 92, has become infested with tax refugees from Massachusets. These "immigrant" scum fled Mass's high taxes but continue to vote liberal now that they are in NH....lib dems and lib Repubs....

NH belongs to Romney

Use this story next time. Make the sheep think for a change.

Goldwater’s running mate, Rep. Bill Miller, spoke at Notre Dame during the 1964 campaign.

At a press conference afterwards, a reporter asked Miller why Goldwater was so “extreme.”

Miller asked the reporter, “Are you married?”

“Yes.”

“Would your wife rather you be moderately faithful to her, or extremely faithful?”

End of press conference.

I know people that would say it depends on who their wives wanted to sleep with, IE, threesome. But when youre married, I dont think that is right either.
