The reason Texas has such a good economy is because of the oil industry that was embedded here over 100 years ago. End of argument - end of debate - end of story - PERIOD

I wouldn't say that's the reason why many businesses not related to oil are headquartered in Tx.

I also believe he probably did create some jobs. When you go on a state highway and they are working on it there is usually 1 guy running a machine, 1 or 2 guys with flags and signs, and then about 15 standing around watching, and 2 or 3 supervisors doing the same.

Well - lets see - I would make a bet that 70% of all jobs in Texas are related to the oil industry in some way. I could make a list here, but I don't want to type that much.
All the way down to teachers - the population growth and oil industry has grown massively in Texas the past 2 years, and will only continue.

Texas unemployment is about 8.2%. Nothing to be proud of. If you throw out a few disaster states like California, Florida, and Nevada, that's about where the US would be.
