http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/08/11/new-cnn-poll-perry-near-top-of-pack-in-gop-nomination-battle/

Ron Paul has risen from 8% in July to 12% in August among their maximally crowded field containing non-candidates like Giuliani and Palin.

In the more likely field (with Perry as the only yet-to-announce candidate), he has risen from 12% to 14% (3rd) over the same period.

I like the looks of this:

Romney 23%
Perry 18%
Paul 14%
Bachmann 9%
Gingrich 8%
Cain 5%
Huntsman 5% (?!?!)
Pawlenty 3%
Santorum 3%
Johnson *
McCotter *

Of course, they leave out Ron Paul vs. Obama but include Guiliani and Palin.

This settles the "2nd tier" bullshit. Most of the socialists like Bachmann, Gingrich, Cain, etc. are falling badly, while Dr. Paul is soaring.

Also, Ron Paul is in 1st among men with 17%, but only receives 5% from women.

CNN is a lot like The Onion. They write bullshit. No need to take them serious.

This is great news. Within 5 points of FIRST PLACE at this point in the race? I'll take it. Also helps to counteract some of the other more recent (BS) polls we saw yesterday

CNN needs to be called out on their bullshit tactics of polling candidates that are not even running. Reading through the pdf they seem to be desperately trying to get Giuliani to run. His support was non-existent in 2008 so why would they they be polling him if they were not a completely biased news organization.

This will definitely help overcome one of Dr. Paul's worse weaknesses - the perception that he is unelectable. He is now to a point that I think many people who never considered him will start investigating...I think we will hear a resounding /facepalm across the nation as they realize they could have this man in office RIGHT NOW if they had been paying attention in 07-08.

Bachmann's results are the most interesting. She's nosediving. If she doesn't win in Ames, the wheels may fall off her wagon fast.

Also check out Huntsman's surge from 1% to 5% in a month. Another Mormon contender to split the vote with Romney could be what we need in order to win in Nevada, Wyoming and Utah.

Within the last few hours, a ton of Intrade bids on Bachmann in the $5.00 to $6.00 range have disappeared and she's now at $4.80. I wonder if this poll had anything to do with it.

I just noticed the comparison between Paul & Bachmann in this poll. It's looking like Paul will be the Tea Party/Non-Establishment choice and end up one of the last 3 candidates. Once he gets there and has lots of time to answer questions in debates, it's over. Paul will make a fool out of Perry/Gore and Romney.

Bachmann's realclearpoliticsgraph just looks like that of cain a few months ago, just bigger.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/us/republican_presidential_nomination-1452.html

Me like, if she goes under ten and neither cain, gingrich or pawlenty make headways and neither palin nor guiliani enter the race, then we have like 65 percent or so to divide between Paul, Romney and Perry. Three top tier candidates, two with great hair and a big fat grin all over their face. And one genuine guy. That should open some eyes. Bring it on, bilderberg.

So, the CNN article fails to highlight that Paul was one of only two candidates to make significant gains and they do not poll him against Obama. Hmmmm

Instead of cursing cnn, maybe it would be more productive if we discuss what is best to do about these disturbingly low digits RP gets from women...

I think women are more cautious, and therefore slower to support an insurgent candidate like Ron Paul. Once Ron Paul has been recognized as a top tier candidate and vetted for a while, I think women will come around.

Wow, we're actually LEADING among men, I did not catch that at first.

Their men need to put them in line.

I kid, I kid.

In all honesty though, I think as Paul's numbers go up, his percentage of support from women will as well, but I think Paul's support between the sexes will always lean disproportionately toward men. I hope I'm not received as a sexist pig, as I have great respect for the opposite sex, and I know many very independent women, but I think due to either culture or nature, men (and I hate generalizations) are generally more likely to relate more to Paul's message of self reliance and individual responsibility.

My wife agrees with everything he says but still thinks he's a whiny old man.

The media minions are the reason that people do not know about Ron Paul. They are a bunch of liars who use smoke & mirror tactics to hide facts, important information, and the truth. CNN is the worst of the worst. BBC is a close second. NPR nearly ties BBC for promoting lies, distortions, and globalism memes at the expense of productive people. The New York Times has proven themselves worthless throughout the 20th century as well as The Washington Post. They were the best bullshitters and Nobel Liars.

"Bachmann's results are the most interesting. She's nosediving. If she doesn't win in Ames, the wheels may fall off her wagon fast. "

I agree and I think a lot of the pro-Perry push is from conservatives who've seen Bachmann and just cannot stomach her as the nominee.

Just goes to show slow and steady rise is a lot better than fast rise then burnout.

Yeah, and that's good to know. So now we need to focus on women. We nedd to pull up those 4000 babies, or whatever we need to pull up, to win women!

We would be in a good position to pick up her supporters so long as we act respectful.

Let's do something about women. Let's try to find as many RP's babies as we can. Some are middleaged people, some must be younger. But imagine if we can locate at least 100 of them. It can't be that dificult. They are all delivered in Ron's district in Texas. And then to make add with RP surounded with all of them, and saying something like: I'm here today with some of the people I helped come to this world, to tell you how is important for our children... something about not leaving debt to our children, and fiscal responsibility, etc... I think women would like that kind of add very much. Childbirth is something so huge in every mothers life, that they will think a lot more about RP after seeing something like that...

I'd like to see a commercial with Carol Paul and some women from his family, speaking about him and his career as an OB/GYN and a congressman, as well as some of his principles that would appeal to women. The idea about RP babies would be good too...maybe throw their mothers in there.

Great results. Paul continues the surge. Hopefully he does well in the debate tonight.

I think women tend to be less political in general and more emotional, so they don't necessarily take time to read what Paul is all about. They do like to see women running for prez though, so their support for Bachmann, Palin and Hillary is understandable.

How come paul polls so low with women?

Well, at least now we see clearly where is the problem. If we can "fix" women, we are at 18-20% nationaly. RP realy needs some women-orientated adds. Some adds to play more on the card of emotions.

This reaffirms the Gallup poll showing him at 14%. He's surging indeed.
