I think this election is a test to see the effect of the Internet. Can it move fast enough to influence the primaries? Can it influence the "old guard" enough to win straw polls and primaries? Can the internet reach out and touch the ones without internet or who don't follow politics online?

This is a referendum on the Internet's ability to change politics. How far has the Web gotten into effecting presidential elections?

If Ron Paul wins, it will make a HUGE statement. The other candidates will not say it publicly perhaps, but the facts will be that they lost, because they didn't win the online grassroots crowd.

I'll even go so far as to say if Ron Paul wins a few primary states and still loses the nomination, future elections will do everything they can to gain an online presence even if they have to buy one.

It's a factor of time. More time = more Internet users. More Internet users = more people exposed to the truth.
