I'm not even going because I live too far away, but I think the Philly Rally has the potential to be a breakout event, showing the power of the Ron Paul Revolution! I will be glad to donate beyond what I was going to contribute to the moneybombs and other donations this month to make this event happen!!

I just wanted to know how most people felt about it...???

Mind you, I'm not with the campaign and I have no power to actually make anything happen, this is just a gauge of sympathy.

I have a lot of experience investing. I'd say as an investment the Philly rally was worth approximately $300,000. I'd say they could have done it for $30,000 on the cheap if they really wanted to by cutting out all the extra fluff. You need speakers, a stage, sound equipment, and insurance. Nothing complicated, and we would have made national coverage with over 5,000 strong. Now there are about 1,000 going to the valley forge location and its not that big of a deal anymore. Essentially they made the biggest campaign blunder yet, by far.

$140k?

To congregate a bunch of people who already support dr. Paul?

Give $140 to the right people in the states of Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia and we will have won those states with majorities.

What a big waste of money a rally would be for 140k

while independance hall would have been nice, $80-140k is big money. I would prefer that to go to more TV commericals in NH, IA, NV, SC.

by the way ... I'm still coming to Philly. The location was not an issue for me. But I do sympathize with those who spent unrefundable money on the indepenance location.

A Ron Paul speech before the liberty bell is at least worth 500.000$. Romney would pay 20 millions for such publicity .

I voted they should spend their money elsewhere. I don't believe the campaign, no matter whether they have the money or not, is prepared to deliver the rally we planned to have on the Mall. This event was to be a grassroots one and if it is to happen on the Mall in the future I think it should be a grassroots event because frankly the campaign displays no understanding of the symbolism of the location and the purpose of the rally that was intended, which was not to be a gathering of just Ron Paul supporters but rather a way to introduce Ron Paul to liberty lovers in general.

Why did yall plan a rally in a location where the minimum cost was $50k? And potential cost 3x that much?

I could throw a rally here with 3,000 people for last than a dollar per person.

Because it was supposed to be the defining rally of the campaign to date.

And the numbers (as claimed by some here) are "inflated" by the campaign for whatever reason.

It does not have to be 140K. That price is wrong. I am not sure why that price was ever relayed to the campaign. THis rally can happen for under 20 grand. Someone fucked up big time.
