Indiana has taken some big steps toward education reform this past year. Some are okay. Some like this are bad. I don't think the state should take over any schools. It is true that these schools are public but I'm not sure that matters. Schools get tax money from local revenue. That local revenue is sent to Indianapolis where it is redistributed throughout the state.
If parents want to send their kids to failing school I think they should be able to. If they want to complain in 10 or 20 years that their kid is still working in a no where to go factory I think that's their choice.
If we want better schools we should send our kids to better schools. It doesn't get much simpler than that. State control of schools is bad.
