Anyone read Dambisa Moyo, shes basically an economist who has looked at what would help her native Zambia and all of Africa the most and come to the conclusion cutting off aid would help tremendously by creating a need in the market for food and basic goods that can be fufilled by local entreapanuers and by making leaders acountable to their people rather than western donar nations. Has anyone heard her mention Dr. Paul? Amoung intellectuals and economists she'd be a very inluential endorsement.

Whenever we send money somewhere it's never for the claimed purpose and will always be used to bribe the local officials for their support for whatever the corporatist agenda at that moment is. Handouts to Africa always equals a few boatloads of expiring medicine (usually leftovers from big pharma), mosquito nets, military aids and bribes to dictators and if you really want to see a bang for your buck? then do it Israeli style. Last time I checked, we were giving $3-5 billion a year to Israel which is about the size of a small state in Nigeria and roughly $100m to the whole continent every half a decade. Bush was responsible for the biggest aid to Africa and it was about $500m

Btw am not trying to justify aids to any country but to think $100m would make a dent in a land mass as big as the African continent is just crazy.
