My thoughts:

Things will have to get much worse before we "recover."

We will see the collapse of the dollar before we recover.

What else will we see?

War. A big one.

War. A big one.

That's usually how the debt is wiped clean.

The big economic picture?

The US defaults or inflates.

Much of Europe defaults or inflates.

Japan defaults or inflates.

China's bubble collapses.

Well unemployment stays around 8 to 9 %.
We see little to no growth.
They keep printing money and inflation kicks in.

This is what Rand thinks will happen.

I pretty much nailed it back in 2008.

My prediction: markets are oversold at the moment.

I don't have as much faith in the American people as Rand does, I guess. Color me cynical. /shrugs

As far as predictions, that which cannot be sustained will not be. Lots of entitlements and goodies will end (or inflation will make them effectively useless). $2000 gold in a decade or so at this rate.

I'm not so sure about your China prediction. That would be useful leverage in most any sort of deal the Chinese regime wants.

10 years of good economy followed by 3-5 of bad economy until debt reaches a breaking point

Obama becomes a one term president.

Entitlements will go on, specifically Social Security, the money will just be hyper inflated currency. $800 in virtually worthless paper is better than no paper at all. Price controls will be mandated for many things, food to start. Widespread shortages will occur and then everyone can draw their own logical conclusion from what happens after that. This won't happen tomorrow, though. Well, it might, if the U.S. would come out and tell everyone what the Austrians already know, that we're broke and there is no political way out of this without default. More likely, the government will keep this going for as long as it can until time has completely run out.

Obama becomes a one term president. No president has been re-elected with an unemployment rate like this.

FDR got re- elected 3 times with an unemployment worse than this, obamas best hope is probably for things to go really far downhill so he can scare more sheep into voting for him

FDR also had one of his opponents shot. I wouldn't put the Obongo above that.

I just listen to the Man (Ron Paul) on this. I specifically remember him saying that the true correction is inevitable and delaying it will only delay the true recovery. So I see whats coming as the true recession/depression, not a "double-dip." and of course the markets are oversold, that happens any time you inject several trillion into an unsound economy. We are just riding the fumes of the last QE, and thats it. All the fundamentals are still bad. As you have all heard, one cannot have a "jobless recovery."
