They have a deal, but will it pass?

It will probably pass much like a kidney stone. (painfully for us)

There are a lot of Democrats against it.

Pelosi is supporting it, doubt she would do it if there weren't enough votes.

Most of the "deal" is meaningless anyways- promises to make cuts as far as ten years from now are not binding at all when next year's (or any future year's) budget is considered. Both sides trying to score political points with their supporters. The only thing which would have an impact would be no deal at all- and that would depend on how long things went without a deal. Paying some bills will get postponed- but they will get paid once any deal is eventually finalized.

The meaningful part is the procedure that only establishment picks will be able to decide what is and isn't cut and there will be draconian penalties if the establishment star chamber plan isn't adopted. It is the SUPER Congress idea that is put into place. Nothing else in this bill has any substance to it.

The debt ceiling increase shouldn't be tied to budgets or deficit reduction anyway. Those should be handled completely separately. They already spent the money. They don't have any choice but to pay the bills.
