Ron Paul Iowa Team Announces ‘Veterans for Ron Paul’ Coalition

Hawkeye State heroes still fighting – for Ron Paul

ANKENY, Iowa - The Iowa component of the Ron Paul 2012 presidential campaign today announced the national “Veterans for Ron Paul” coalition to energize supporters of Dr. Paul who were members of the U.S. armed forces.

In announcing this national coalition, the Iowa team praised the participation of Iowa legislative and political leaders who are veterans and are working to elect Dr. Paul the Republican nominee for the presidency.

“Out of the entire Republican field of candidates and including President Obama, Congressman Ron Paul is the only candidate for the presidency who has served in the military,” said Iowa House Rep. Glen Massie (R-Des Moines).

“Dr. Paul is a man of unimpeachable integrity whether this is measured against his character or his decades-long record of public service. I am certain Iowa’s veterans will answer the call for the mission of supporting Ron Paul for president just as they have answered the solemn call to serve their country in times of urgent need,” said Rep. Massie, who serves on the “Veterans for Ron Paul” national advisory board.

Rep. Massie is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and in May he became the first Iowa legislator to endorse Dr. Paul for the Republican nomination.

“As a veteran, I am proud to lend my support to this military-friendly initiative in support of Dr. Paul,” said Iowa Campaign Chairman Drew Ivers.

“Active-duty men and women recently demonstrated their support for Dr. Paul by contributing much more to his presidential campaign than they have to those of other Republican candidates. Now America’s veterans, too, have a chance to showcase their enthusiasm for Dr. Paul’s candidacy and we expect an outpouring of interest among this group as well,” said Mr. Ivers.

Mr. Ivers is a combat-wounded U.S. Army veteran and was awarded a purple heart for injuries he sustained while serving in Vietnam.

As a first basic step, those wanting to join the “Veterans for Ron Paul”coalition should visit www.RonPaul2012.com/Veterans

If dusman's ad doesn't get picked by the Revolution PAC, we should get it updated with the Veterans for Ron Paul info and push it ourselves!

Looking at census data, 3 states have over 1 million veterans (http://www.infoplease.com/spot/veteranscensus1.html):
California: 2 million
Florida: 1.6 million
Texas: 1.6 million

Those states have populations of 37m, 25m, 19m respectively; so veteran to population density:
Florida: 8.4%
Texas: 6.4%
California: 5.4%

We should run the military/veteran ads for Ron Paul starting in Florida?

I don't like the graph. A regular pie graph where ron's 50% donations actually is 50% of the graphs area would be much more clear.

Yeah, right now it's more of a bar graph put in a circle shape. Having a graph that fills up 50% of the space delivers the message that Ron Paul gets the most.

"all the other GOP candidates" is upside down... may I suggest it be wrapped right-side up left to right.

Where's the VFW link and/or stamp of Approval? Has Ron Paul been scheduled to visit VFW halls in Veteran Meet N Greets in Iowa? NH?

I've seen nothing on the campaign schedule of stopping by even in the Iowa towns he's visiting.

I think it is important to note that RP has more support than all other GOPs AND the current Prez COMBINED! This needs to be emphasized and we need to keep drilling home that RP is the only candidate that on EVERY issue advocates on the basis of the principles set forth by the Constitution. Unfortunately, there are still too many people, Tea Party included, that have very little understanding of the Constitution and thus RP is not as understood or as popular as he should be. Times are a changing though...

If Rick Perry enters, both he and Ron Paul will share the title of previously serving in the military:
http://blog.chron.com/txpotomac/2011/08/perry-watch-military-veterans-create-super-pac-to-help-governors-presidential-efforts/

We should push the message now that Ron Paul is the only candidate with military experience. The initial message will stick, and people will learn about Ron Paul even if Rick Perry joins the race.

Would it be possible to turn that into a direct mail piece and send it to military homes?

Or even as slim jims we can go door to door with?

If Perry enters the race I predict at least one fox news talking head will report that he is the only candidate with military experience.

I think it would be more appropriate for it to say Captain Paul rather than Dr. Paul. Or maybe it would be better to just have Congressman Paul or Representative Paul. Eh, not a big deal at all.

I agree. As a graphical element it is eye catching in this context. I believe most won't have a hard time with it after a good look.

I do think the Capt's suggestion needs to stick.... A regular pie chart conveys the message much better than that one.

While Paul and Perry can both claim to have military experience, only one of them can boast of at one point being elected as a democrat and having served as Al Gore's mananger and right hand man. :P

American legion and VFW are non-partisan groups. They most likely won't allow a politician to speak at their halls.

I'll create a version with that. Not a bad idea, I just figured this way was more interesting and makes the reader think about what he is looking at.

Nice to see the ad, potentially, come back into play and with pretty good timing too. =)

Did I mention I was a PATRIOT Operator.. looking at a radar screen all day long?

Hmm.. looks like there is a large object associated with Ron Paul coming from the Northwest.

Are there many veterans in retirement homes? Or at least those in retirement homes might be favorable towards the military background and peace position?

LMAO. True that.

I agree, I think it should be done in the form of a traditional pie chart.

I wouldn't, just befriend (or 'like') the official coalition and if they find one facebook group, they'll probably find the other.

Please refrain from using this just yet, since the rights to that image haven't been purchased yet. I might get it tonight and rework it with some of the suggestions made and make variations for general use by whoever would like to.
