Sen. Mike Lee of Utah told CNN's Wolf Blitzer Sunday night that he will filibuster Monday's Senate vote.
Breaking a filibuster would require sixty votes in the Senate.

i thought he said he wouldn't bother because he knows it going to pass anyway...

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), a member of the Senate Tea Party Caucus, said he would insist that any compromise receive at least 60 votes on the Senate floor but not drag out the process to delay an agreement beyond Tuesday.

Sen. Mike Lee and other members of the Tea Party Caucus say they will not try to delay a vote on a bipartisan deal to raise the debt limit by $2.4 trillion.

Just don’t ask them to actually support the plan that also attempts to cut about $3 trillion in spending.

“It is not where I think it needs to be, but I’m not the only one with an opinion in this town. It looks like there will be enough people who disagree with me that this is likely to pass,” said Lee, a freshman Republican from Utah.

I don't see it that way, in fact the quote you included supports the filibuster:

filibustering is the only way for him to insist on the 60 votes, since it takes 60 to break it.

Well from "insisting" I got the impression that he'd want 60 votes but wouldn't really do anything about it. I'm sad Lee has sort of backed down from his earlier rhetoric about doing everything possible to make sure the debt limit isn't raised without a BBA, although I can understand his position. If either he or Rand are the only ones holding this thing up, and the federal government "defaults" it'd be a political disaster, as the GOP/Dem elites and MSM can pin the blame squarely on them.

Well if he is gonna filibuster in order to "insist" then he isn't backing down really since that is the extent of his abilities. :)
