Listen to the things he's saying in this interview:
http://www.progressiveradionetwork.com/the-progressive-news-hour/2011/7/28/the-progressive-radio-news-hour-072811.html

- the debt ceiling should be raised b/c it's always been raised
- the Republican anti-debt ceiling stuff is just a ploy to cut Social Security
- Social Security is solvent by the way

Don't worry about this being on a show called "Progressive Radio Newshour". Though a leftist, the host is actually a good interviewer who does value the opinion of right wingers (such as Bob Chapman), likes Ron Paul, and even lewrockwell.com has republished some of his articles (and there are some pure libertarian shows on that same network - Jake Towne has his own show for instance)

The only interviews of his I've listened to were on the Alex Jones Show. I'm sure he'd never say that stuff to AJ...

Two faced?

Not a "hard left". He is pointing out that this "debt crisis" is contrived and political theater, and that the timing is not the best. He worked in the Treasury Department, so he's pretty knowledgeable about the details. He also said that this will provide Obama with an opportunity to grab more power if he raises the debt ceiling himself.

$12 minimum wage? Galbraith? C'mon. And although he's rooting for Paul in this article, he tells us "there is no way Ron Paul can be elected". I am SO sick of people who are supposed to be on Ron's side saying that.

If libertarians were not inflexible, candidate Paul could endorse Ron Unz’s proposal to solve the illegal immigration problem by raising the minimum wage to $12 an hour, so that Americans could afford to work the jobs that are taken by illegals.

Economist James K. Galbraith is probably correct that Unz’s proposal would boost the economy by injecting purchasing power and that the unemployment would be largely confined to illegals who would return to their home country.

I think he's always been rather leftist.

If there really is a "left-right" paradigm, why don't we stop playing it up by using words like "left" and "right". If you want to change the world, first change yourself.
